So Happy Together!

Monday, August 30, 2010

Well I survived the 1st week of school. Tonight is Open House and I wanted to show you my new card before I get busy with the school day.

I've been on a roll with layouts lately but when I saw this cute paper and ribbon from American Crafts I had to make a card with it. I added pear die cuts that I got from the dollar section at Michael's craft store. I used the Get Sketchy Card challenge sketch to design my card.

I stamped the sentiment using the "Happy Everything" stamp set and Melon Mambo ink from Stampin Up!
Here's a close-up shot of the paper.

Ms. Happy Cat!

Sunday, August 29, 2010

My cat Melodie is a Diva in Training. She loves to sit tall and proud in the corner of my bathtub. I thought cats didn't like water but she loves to sit there. Here's my newest layout featuring Melodie. She loves to take pictures too by the way.  I've entered this one is several challenges.

I was inspired to make this layout this weekend when I saw the fun challenge going on over at Etsy Inspired. This layout was inspired by the "Happy Cat" ring in the The Caged Fairy shop on Etsy.

My layout is also full of whimsical and colorful circles. It also goes great with the fun "Circles" challenge going on this week at Frosted Designs.
I used red patterned paper and cat embellies from Pebbles, Inc. This layout is full of circles - namely, printed chipboard circles from American crafts, buttons, and printed paper with circles that are also from American Crafts. I also added A.C. Thickers to spell out "Happy Cat".

I'll be back tomorrow with a new card design!

Have a Happy Week!

Swim Buddies!

Thursday, August 26, 2010

As you can see from my last couple of posts, I've been trying to get caught up on my layouts. Here's another one for you! I made this one using Sketch #118 over at Creative Scrappers
I also entered this over at Scrap It With A Song since they are doing a "Summertime" challenge.

This one is of Rachel and her friend Elyssa enjoying the pool on a hot summer day here in Texas! I used a lot of supplies from my stash. I really like the color of the patterned paper that I used from My Mind's Eye. It's from their 29th Street Market line.

The pennant banner and most of the other embellies are from Basic Grey. The scribbly glitter chipboard on the left of the picture is from American Crafts. I also typed out some journaling and adhered it to chipboard strips.

I used larger chipboard letters to write the word FUN! I love all of the different colors on the page.

Happy Scrappin'

Pretty Little Princess

Sunday, August 15, 2010

I'm back with another card! For this one I drew inspiration from the Etsy Inspired Challenge, used the cute sketch from I 2 Stamp, and finally used the color combos from W Plus 9

I added a big red flower and even stamped the sentiment. Whew....this was a bit challenging to make, but I added some of my favorite design elements to add some fun. My daughter already wants to give this to one of her friends for her birthday.

First, let's start with the inspiration for the card. I was inspired by the Etsy Inspired Challenge and the Lover Dover's shop on Etsy. I just loved this cute Snow White apron in their shop. I used various Stampin Up cardstock and patterned paper to match the colors. The sentiment is also from the Stampin Up "Happy Everything" stamp set.

The cute sketch I used is from I ♥ 2 Stamp. I love the many layers that you can use with this sketch. I added several embellishments and blue and red ribbon to dress it up a bit.

My card also fit in to the Color Cue Challenge going on over at W Plus 9. I love the colors they chose this week and it fits in well with my little Snow White. The Snow White embellie that I used is from EK Success.
Entered in the following Challenges:
Etsy Inspired Challenge - #101 Lover Dover's Challenge
I ♥ 2 Stamp Challenge - Sketch Challenge
W Plus 9 - Color Cue #7

Enjoy your week!

Reason to Celebrate!

Saturday, August 14, 2010

Last week was really busy for me. I helped run a back to school camp plus I've been running around buying stuff to decorate my classroom this year. The busy school time has begun for us here in Texas.

After getting caught up on my emails and blog hopping I found some time to create a new card. I'm calling this one "Reason to Celebrate"

I'm entering this into TWO fun challenges going on this week at Off the Wall Craftiness and over at Wee Memories.

For the first challenge, I used the yummy color combination at Off the Wall Craftiness.

Secondly, Wee Memories has a buttons, brads, or bling challenge going on. There's a lot of BLING and Shiny Embellies on my card so I had to enter it there too. Here's a close-up picture. I love the glitter embossed purple paper. I also love that the champagne glass has the words "Cheers" written on it. I also added blue shiny bling alongside of the champagne glass to dress it up a bit.

There is more blingy glitter around the chipboard sentiment.
Love this shade of blue. And of course I added some ribbon to match.

I'm headed back to my craft room to create another card. Stay tuned!!!

Entered in the following challenge:
Off The Wall Craftiness - Inspiration Challenge #20
Wee Memories - #18 Buttons, Brads, & Bling
Card Recipe:
Glitter embossed patterned paper - Bo Bunny, Cardstock - Stampin Up!, Chipboard Embellishments - Me & My Big Ideas, Blue Bling Embellishments - Martha Stewart Crafts, Ribbon - Celebrate It!

Enjoy Your Weekend!

Crowns and Butterflies!

Tuesday, August 10, 2010

I'm back...and this time with 2 card projects. I'm in such a scrappy mood lately that I've been creating all kinds of new projects. Please keep reading to see my other card creation.

My first card pictured above is for the Etsy Inspired Challenge. This week they are featuring the Cathy Walters Etsy shop. I was inspired by this "Faith" double-sided pendant. It is so elegant with the crown on one side and this pretty graphic paper on the back.

I used paper and embellishments from 7 Gypsies then added a splash of red ribbon. Here's a close-up shot of the card. I think this paper goes really well with the inspirational design of the pendent.

Here is my 2nd card. I made this one for the Wee Memories Butterfly challenge. And since I have been wanting to enter contests over at the Just Us Girls challenge I also submitted this card for their sketch challenge going on this week.

I used pretty Bo Bunny paper, Basic Grey embellishments, and a sentiment from my stash.

Here's a close-up picture of my butterfly card. I love big flowers and thought it would be fun to add the butterfly on top of it. I also added smaller butterflies around the sentiment.

Entered in the following challenges:
Etsy Inspired Challenge - EIC #100 Cathy Walters Challenge
Wee Memories - #17 Butterfly Challenge
Just Us Girls Challenge - Sketch #45

A Smiling Chickie & Mini Tutorial

Monday, August 9, 2010

I'm back with another Fantabulous Cricut Challenge post. This week happens to be "National Smile Week" and at Fantabulous Cricut we hope to bring you lots of "smiles" and encourage you to participate in the challenge.

Challenge #22
National “Smile” week:
Create a project and include the word “Smile”

I made a "Smilin' Chickie" gift bag. I'm making several to give to my students this year when they do well on a test or essay paper that they turn in to me.

Here's a mini-tutorial on how I made this. First use your Cricut to make a little treat box. If you are pressed for time like I was then buy some from Walmart for $1.00. (smile)

With your hole punch - punch a hole on each side.

Then tie your favorite ribbon to each side. I used my favorite from American Crafts.

Cut the little chickie using the Once Upon a Princess Cricut cartridge. Glue the pieces together then to your treat box. I let the orange show as a border around little duckie to make him stand out more on the yellow treat box.

Also add on a cute googly eye to your duckie.

Add some pop dots to the back of little duckie

Cut the word "Smile" using the Disney Mickey Font Cricut cartridge. I love the chunky look of these letters. Then glue them to the side or back of your treat box.

Your treat box is done. Fill it with tissue paper or goodies and you are ready to bring a SMILE to someone's face.

I hope you all enjoyed my mini-tutorial. Be sure to head over to Fantabulous Cricut to upload your "Smile" themed project! And remember to check out this month's giveaway here on my blog. For details click HERE.

My Brownie Girl!

Sunday, August 8, 2010

I completed another layout. Can you believe it? I made a promise to myself to complete a couple of layouts a week.......so you will be seeing more of them on my blog.

My last layout was all about Bekah (my oldest daughter). This one is all about Rachel - the youngest. She's starting high school in 2 weeks and I am just now getting caught up on her Girl Scout album. She's still in Scouts so I guess I'm not too far behind. That's her standing on the left with the pink bow in her hair.
I followed the sketch over at Creative Scrappers for this one. I love the look of this sketch. I used a modge podge of my favorite products to complete this one.

I love the punched border and the little birdie sticker from Basic Grey. I had to add this somewhere on the layout because it's so cute. I also used so many embellies on this that it also qualified for the challenge going on over at The Pink Elephant this week.

Here's a close-up pic of the felt circle embellies that I used from American Crafts.

And don't forget to enter my giveaway going on this month. To enter click HERE.
