Caricature Cuteness!

Tuesday, June 29, 2010

While I'm off this summer I'm trying to work on my layouts. While going through a box of photos I found this cute caricature that an artist drew of Rachel when she was 8 years old. He did such a great job of capturing her big brown eyes.

I decided to make a layout with it. I'm going to go to Michael's today and buy a 12 x 12 frame to put this layout in. I want to display it on a shelf in my living room.

I didn't want to clutter this page up with too much decor.  I picked paper and embellies that had some of my favorite colors like orange, yellow, pink, turquoise, and green.

I also added wood embellishments to add to the decor of the page. I used the word "Dream" because the T.V. show - "Glee" has Rachel hooked on the Aerosmith song - "Dream On".

I used a lot of American Crafts products including these
cute crocheted flowers.

Creating With Canvas

Sunday, June 27, 2010

Here's my newest project that I made for a project for my LSS.  I love "Creating With Canvas".
There are so many fun things you can do with it.

This all started with a blank white canvas frame. I played with paper and used inks, glitter sticker embellishments, sheer ribbon, thick fabric ribbon, embossed cardstock, huge flowers, and a button embellishment to transform this blank canvas into something FAB.

I still have not found the "perfect" picture for this canvas. I just left the generic one that came with it in there for now. I'll have to make more of these soon.

Have a Crafty Week!

Scrapbook Nerd!

Wednesday, June 23, 2010

I've been wanting to make this card for a long time using some cute vinyl that I ordered online earlier this year. I got it from Vinyl Wall ArtI actually have this same vinyl sticker on the back of my car window to proudly display that I am a "Scrapbook Nerd" (Smile)

To see all of their wonderful vinyl creations just click here.

I made this card to add to my craft shelf decor! I just love this cute little scrapbooker. And she is holding a pair of scissors too!  I mixed different patterned paper on the design. I also added a splash of green with the tulle flower. I love the beading in the center of it.

I hope everyone enjoys the rest of your week!

"Summertime at the Beach"
You are to create a Summer project with a beach theme using your Cricut.
(For example: surf board, beach umbrella, flip flops, Sun, ocean, etc.)

I made a card and snack bucket for my Godson, Reilly. I filled it with fruit snacks and Fruit Loops (his favorites). His mom got military orders to MCRD in San Diego a couple of months ago. He is 9 years old and has never lived by a beach. He wants to get into surfing. I'm sending him a care package tomorrow and wanted to include this with the other gifts that I am sending.

I wanted the font on the card to be a bit chunky. My favorite Cricut cartridge to use for this is the Disney Mickey Font cart.

Paper Plate Pom Pom

Sunday, June 20, 2010

My friend Elia cleared out her dining room and we turned it into our own little scrapbook retreat. Her daughter Elyssa and my youngest, Rachel have been friends since Kindergarten. They are both now 14 years old. We've had a wonderful friendship for all of these years.

Both girls were cheerleaders together for several years. Elia and I are desperately trying to finish up their cheer scrapbooks.  Here's a page that I made of Rachel and several of the girls when they were selected as officers.

I always have paper plates lying around the house. I cut up and crinkled one of the paper plates to make a pom pom for the page. I fanned it all out and put a brad in the center to hold it all together. I also used paw print patterned paper to make the letters and megaphones.

Hopefully I will get this scrapbook all caught up and finished soon!
I'm so behind on layouts!

Coaster Coolness!

Saturday, June 19, 2010

Happy Saturday everyone!  Here's my newest card.  And it includes something that has been laying around in my kitchen drawer since last year.

I wanted to make a card for several of my crafty friends who have made me some sweet gifts recently.
When I first made one of of the cards it looked a bit flat. I wanted to make the circle pop up a bit to add more dimension. I was down to my last couple of pop pop-dots and didn't want to drive to the store again.

So.......I used some coasters. These are how the coasters looked originally. They are the lightweight disposable ones that you use for parties. I covered them with patterned paper then added my embellishments. Works great when you don't have any more pop dots. (smile)

I also added one of my favorite ink colors when I stamped the sentiment.
I used Melon Mambo. Love this color. It's from Stampin Up!

Card Ingredients:
Patterned Paper: ColorBok
Embellishments: K & Company
Stamp - "Sweetheart" Set (Stampin Up)
Ink - "Melon Mambo" (Stampin Up)

Challenges:

Just for Dad!

Monday, June 14, 2010

Please head over to Fantabulous Cricut for Challenge #14 -
"Celebrate Dear Dad"
You are to create a masculine project for Dad using your Cricut.

I always make sports related gifts, but this year decided to make a Military Keepsake Box using an ordinary paint can. I made the tag with the Bags, Tags, Boxes, and More Cricut cartridge.

K & Company makes great military scrapbook paper. The ribbon was purchased at Hobby Lobby. I also lined the inside with tissue paper. This is a great keepsake tin to hold dog tags, military insignia, and other mementos.

I also cut the circle for the lid using my Cricut.

I received one of these during Veterans day from teachers at my school and thought it would be fun to make one of my own to give to my Dad and several of my Uncles for Father's Day.

Can't start my summer crafting fun yet....I'm off to a teacher training for the next 3 days that will last from morning till late in the evening!
Stay tuned later in the week to see my NEW projects!

Bridal Bliss at Fantabulous Cricut

Monday, June 7, 2010

Blogger has been acting up so I was unable to log in all day until now. Better late than never........

Please head over to Fantabulous Cricut for Challenge #13 - "For The Bride".
You are to create a project using one of the following: something old, something new, something borrowed, or something blue.

I created a wedding keepsake box using Design Studio and the Forever Young Cricut cartridge. With Design Studio you can move, reorganize, rotate, resize, skew, and weld letters, shapes, and phrases from any Cricut cartridge.

I saw the cutest wedding dress embellishment at Hobby Lobby. Instead of paying $4.99 for the set, I decided to make one of my own by altering one of the dresses from this cartridge.

Other materials used on this box were embossed paper, ribbon, glitter cardstock heart and letters, wire hanger embellishment, and jewels. I also lined the inside with pink tissue paper. These are fun to make and great for gift giving.

Please head on over to Fantabulous Cricut and upload your project today. Did I mention there are THREE prizes up for grabs this week?  YES...we have three amazing prizes (including a Cricut Cartridge!!!) donated by our very generous sponsors.
