Pretty Sassy & OTWC Guest Design News!

Saturday, November 13, 2010

I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend! I've got so much news to share in the next couple of days. One bit of news that I can share today is that Kim Wilson at Off The Wall Craftiness has chosen me to be one of her Guest Designers. Thanks so much Kim! I can't wait to design for OTWC. You can read about her New Guest Designers HERE.

And here's a card that I made for the fun Inspiration Challenge going on over at OTWC this week.

Here's the inspiration photo. I love the pretty color combo.

I'm making cards for birthdays and this one I plan on giving to one of my co-workers. She loves shopping and has the most beautiful purses and bags that you will ever see. When I saw these cute purse embellies I knew it would be perfect for her card.

It was cool and overcast today.
Hopefully I can get better photos tomorrow.

Happy Veteran's Day & Pretty Mini Album Swap with Fern!

Thursday, November 11, 2010

Today is a very important day - It's Veteran's Day!

I proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps and wanted to take the time to thank all of my fellow men and women serving all around the world. I salute you all and am sending prayers your way today!
I also wanted to share this beautiful mini album I received from Fern. We both participated in the mini-album swap over at Stuck on You Sketches. Please visit Fern's wonderful blog at Fern's Creations from the Heart. She is so talented. And look at all the yummy details in the mini that she sent me. I absolutely LOVE IT. It's so elegant and pretty that all of the teachers I work with want to take it from me. Thank you so much Fern!

I'll be posting the one that I sent to Fern soon! I'm such a card person so I am praying (really really hard) that Fern likes the one I made for her. You guys send a prayer out for me too. LOL
Aren't the details GORGEOUS!!!!!
Flowers are my FAVE. Love this one.

These pockets are lovely.
Fern needs to teach a class so I can learn how to do this.
More lovely details!
I'm going to have so much fun filling this mini album with photos. Thank you again Fern!

Don't forget to salute a Vet today!

Live With Gratitude & Thanksgiving!

Tuesday, November 9, 2010

With Thanksgiving fast approaching I am making some cards to give to several friends to "Thank Them" for all of their love and suppport that they have given to my life this past year. Here is one of the cards that I made.

I am also taking the time to thank God for his many blessings that he has given me. I am definately in a Thanksgiving kind of mood. It's my favorite holiday.

I drew inspiration for this card from several fun places on the web this week. Paper Issues is putting the spotlight on Thanksgiving so I linked up there to join in on the fun.

Also, the City Crafter Challenge blog is hosting a "Thank You" Challenge and Off The Wall Craftiness has this beautiful picture inspiration.

The Play Date Cafe is also playing with these beautiful colors.

I love to do pleating on cards now after I tried it a couple of weeks ago. Here's a close-up shot of my pleats for this one! I used some cute Teresa Collins paper to make them.

I also added an oversized tag and jewel.
I also love the Gratitude sentiment which is also from Teresa Collins - Giving Thanks collection.
I'm putting this scripture inside the card along with a poem. Here's the scripture - "Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving. Sing praises to our God...." - (Psalm 147:7)

And here is the Thanksgiving poem for special friends:
Thanksgiving is a time
For reviewing what we treasure,
The people we hold dear,
Who give us so much pleasure.

Without you as my friend,
Life would be a bore;
Having you in my life
Is what I’m thankful for.

Embellish a Bag - Have Some Fun!

Monday, November 8, 2010

Hello crafty friends. Sorry that I did not blog much last week. I have been working on projects for several surprise announcements coming up on my blog. Shhhhhhhh.....can't reveal anything now but stay tuned to find out all of the GREAT NEWS I received last week.

Today I wanted to share my latest altered project. I'm making gift bags for most of my gift giving this year. I designed it after getting inspiration over at Embellish Magazine and their fun "Bags - Color Challenge".

I also entered this over at Paper Issues for their Scallop Challenge.
I didn't like the plain white handles on this bag, so I covered them with black ribbon to dress it up a bit. Here's a picture of the white handle and one covered in ribbon.

I used shiny gray paper to frame the front of the bag. I also added gray tissue paper on the inside. I love patterned paper and used polka dot pink, polka dot black, and scallops on the bottom of the bag.

I was in Bath & Body Works on Saturday and they are selling these beautiful felt blooms. I got one in a dark pink color. I think it fits in so well with the color combo on the gift bag.

This was such a fun bag to make. Can't wait to show you some others that I'm making with a Christmas theme. Hope you all enjoy the rest of your week. Stay tuned to the blog this week for more new projects and surprise announcements.

Supplies:
Gift bag: Michael's craft store; Glitter tag: TPC Studios - Girlfriends; Patterned Paper: October Afternoon - This Little Piggy and The Girls Paperie - Paper Girl; Felt Flower - Bath & Body Works

Wedding Bliss with The Paper Variety!

Wednesday, November 3, 2010

It's time for another fun challenge over at The Paper Variety! Wedding bells are ringing this time around. For this challenge you are to create a wedding themed card, layout, or project.

I used my stash for this one. I love kraft cardstock and have been wanting to make a card with it for a while. I adhered this cute chipboard butterfly to the top of a button. I also made the tag from patterned paper.

This big glitter cardstock title is from My Mind's Eye. It fit so well with the card. Of course I had to add a flower with a pink button. I tried to keep it cute and girly. Perfect for the Bride to Be!

I hope you all join in on our fun challenge this week.
Our sponsor this week is Precocious Paper.
Link up your project to be eligible to win a $20 Gift Certificate.
