Etsy Inspired #128 - The Hidden Alphabet

Saturday, February 26, 2011

Whew...it's been a busy week for me getting ready for standardized testing in our school district. I wanted to pop in today to share the fun challenge at Etsy Inspired this week!

Our featured shop is - "The Hidden Alphabet"

This shop takes ordinary objects and architectural elements are turn them into original, photographic art that resemble letters of the alphabet.

I was inspired by the framed work above and the colors in this piece.
Here's the Mini Card that I made:

I wanted to let the words be the main focal point. I put the words in a chipboard frame. It reads "The Best of Friends - Always Together". I added a butterfly and flower to girly it up a bit.

Here's how you can play along with Etsy Inspired:
♥ Find an item that you like from The Hidden Alphabet.

It's time for some Sketchy Fun at Papercraft Star
I hope to see you all link up this week.

Here's the sketch from Liz Chidester:

I made a fun Sock Monkey Mini Card using the sketch. I made the tag out of patterned paper and placed it in the center.

For extra added fun I punched a hole and added colorful ribbon. The word "Sweet" is from the SRM Stickers that I won from Virginia's giveaway. I then stamped the word "Friendship" from the "Coffee? Tea?" stamp from My Favorite Things.

This month Copic Markers is sponsoring all four of our weekly challenge prizes as well as our randomly selected Grand Prize. Our exciting gifts from Copic include, 2 packages of Sketch Markers, and 2 packages that each include a Sketch, Ciao and Glitter Pen.

Colorful Little Squares!

Tuesday, February 15, 2011

Don'tcha just love Kraft?

If you use it with colorful paper & embellies it really makes your design "Pop".

 For extra added touches I...

...used paper with colorful squares.
...topped them with square shaped bling.
...and finished it off with some colorful trim.

I sooo love Spring! The hot air balloon on the card reminds me of sunny days outdoors! I'm linking this up to the Really Reasonable Ribbon's "Spring" challenge.

I've also been wanting to play with The Kraft Journal for a while. I'm linking this up to their "It's Hip to be Square" challenge. (such a fun title for a challenge) :)

Happy Valentine's Day!

Monday, February 14, 2011

Just popping in to wish everyone a Happy Valentine's Day!

I made this card last year using My Mind's Eye - "Love Me Do" collection.

If I could send chocolate in the mail I would send all of my bloggy friends & fellow DT members something sweet & delish!

"Happy V Day" to the Papercraft Star and Etsy Inspired Team. They are all a great (and talented) bunch of ladies to work with.

Also, sending special hugs to Kate, Audrey, and Julie.

They always take time to leave me plenty of sweet comments. And Kate and I found out that our kiddos struggle with the same disability and have a lot in common. It's so nice to meet such great friends through crafting.

I hope everyone enjoys your day. Getting ready to take Rachel to a local Cupcakery for some sweets. Yum!

Etsy Inspired #126 - Glow Girl

Saturday, February 12, 2011

Time for some Saturday fun at Etsy Inspired. This week our featured shop is Glow Girl. (Love their name.....so kewl) :)

This shop is full of STYLISH & ECO-CONSCIOUS coupon organizers, tote bags, and reusable sandwhich bags.

Here's my inspiration
Love this Neon Bubble Coupon Holder

See the close up shot above of the little girl? She brings back fond memories for me. I used to rock the cute little "Afro Puffs" just like this when I was a little girl. Love the Puffs! :) :)

The paper and her polka dot dress remind
me of the bubble design in the inspiration piece.

These cards came with the Echo Park kit that I used.
I added some glitter letters to add some sparkle.

Here's how you can play along with Etsy Inspired:

♥ Find an item that you like from Glow Girl.
♥ Create some cuteness!
♥ Link your creation up to EIC by Friday, Feb. 18th.

Happy Coffee Days!

Wednesday, February 9, 2011

I'm glad that everyone had fun with my "Slug Bug" layout yesterday. Love that game! Today is a card day!

I'm sooo trying to stay away from coffee these days. It's kinda hard when I get to play with the cute "Coffee? Tea?" stamp set from My Favorite Things Stamps

This card is for the sketch challenge we have going on over at Papercraft Star. I hope you will join us for some fun this week.

Here's the sketch from Liz Chidester:

I had fun using the sketch. I even incorporated stickers behind the stamped image, on the sentiment, and on the scallop border. I also used some cute "Play Date" paper from Stampin Up!

I hope you all enter the challenge. We have great prizes up for grabs! Copic Markers is our Grand Prize sponsor this month.

Slug Bug! - No Tag Backs!

Tuesday, February 8, 2011

When my girls and I are out driving we love to play the "Slug Bug" game. My fave car in the world is the Volkswagen Bug! I'm dreaming of buying a "Yellow" one some day!

I made a fun layout and used the Sketchy Thursday's sketch. I'm also entering this in the "Fave Game" challenge going on over at These Are a Few of My Favorite Things  and also linking to Paper Issues. :) :)

I used a paper kit from Echo Park called Sweet Summertime.
The butterfly is so colorful. It's from K & Company.

I love the color of this Peace Sign. It fits in so well with the Slug Bug theme!

Had to add some flowers. They look so cute on a VW Bug.

And in case you don't know...this is how you play the "Slug Bug" game.
It's great for road trips.

This is a game in which people look for VW Beatles. Whoever sees one first gets to pick someone in the car to punch. Rules vary from car to car but the most common are:

-1 punch for a beatle
-2 punches for a VW bus ("double slugbug")
-If someone punches you and it turns out there was no beatle, you can tag back (give them a return punch).
-Once a car has been tagged on, it can't be reused until the car you're riding is has been turned off and turned back on.

You can modify these rules any way that you'd like. Just have fun with it! :)

Layout Supplies:
Patterned Paper (Echo Park - Sweet Summertime Kit); Butterfly & Flowers (K & Company - Girl Scout Felt Stickers); Peace Sign (LaPetites - 3D Stickers); Foam Alpha Letters (The Paper Studio)

Designing In Orange!

I'm so lovin' the color Orange lately. I had to use it this week for my DT project over at the "Tuesday Takes" card challenge at Sketches in Thyme.

For this challenge you are to use this FUN sketch from Mojo Monday.

I used up my stash on this one. I did use kraft cardstock as my base. The ribbon is from Martha Stewart Crafts. Still searching to find out who makes all of the other fun stuff that I used. Will let ya know if I find out. :)

Now hop on over to Sketches in Thyme and link up your card. There is a great prize up for grabs.

I'll be back later today to show ya a fun layout that I just finished. (I'm trying to do a layout a week from now on. Pray for me.) :)

Etsy Inpired #125 - Daisy Petal Designs

Saturday, February 5, 2011

We are having ice and snow in the southern Texas area. Not the normal weather for us at all. I'm praying that our warmer weather returns soon.

At least I got to craft all day and have some fun making a new card for the Etsy Inspired Challenge.

This week we are putting the spotlight on Daisy Petal Designs. This shop is full of beautiful hair accessories and jewelry.

Here's what I made. My fave color is YELLOW, so I was inspired by everything in this beautiful bright color. I added a splash of yellow in my card!

I love the way fellow EIC DT member, Virginia Lu uses stickers on her cards. I had the perfect circle & heart stickers from Stampin Up and added them to the center of the flowers. Here's a close up shot of them.

Here are more of my faves in yellow from Daisy Petal Designs.
