You & Me = Us

Saturday, July 31, 2010

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. I've been out and about for the last 4 days spending time with my family and got back into my craft room today to enter some fun challenges.

I created a clean and simple card this time around. I love the color and pattern of the paper that I used.

Each and every embellishment that I used is made of chipboard including the glitter alphas. I love the black and white polka dot design of the chipboard. I placed the words "you and me" on top of the black and white polkas to add more dimension to the card.

I also love bling and love to see it used on chipboard. It brings some shine and dazzle to the design. I'm definitely turning into a chipboard fanatic.

Entered in the following challenges:
♥ - Moxie Fab World - Let's Do Clean & Graphic
♥ - Wee Memories - #16 Chipboard Challenge

Card Recipe:
Cardstock - Stampin Up!
Chipboard Embellishments - Me & My Big Ideas
Patterned Paper - Imaginisce

Happy Crafting!

Don't Worry, Be Happy!

Wednesday, July 28, 2010

I just finished creating cards of encouragement for several friends who are going through health challenges this week. Here's one of them. I thought this cute little robot would be perfect to bring a smile to someone's face.

I also thought the sentiment was encouraging and the song "Don't Worry, Be Happy" by Bobby McFerrin was my inspiration for this card. I love that song. The lyrics can turn any bad day into a better one!

I  love the color and the design of the little robot. It has a heart in the center of it too which makes it fit well with the purpose of the card.

I also discovered another fun challenge blog while blog hopping called Moxie Fab World. I had to enter this card over there too. So many fun challenges out there this week!

I hope that you all enjoy the rest of your week!
Happy Scrappin'

Fantabulous Fawn!

Monday, July 26, 2010

It's time for another Fantabulous Cricut Challenge! Challenge #20 is called "At the Zoo - Animal theme". This challenge calls for you to create a card or project with the Cricut and use an animal shape. Be sure to link up your project today for a chance to win some fabulous prizes!

I love the deer exhibit at the zoo. Deer are such pretty animals. I created a card using the fawn cut from the new Cricut Lite cartridge called "Live Simply". I love the patterned paper that I used on this one. And the ribbon has little forest trees on it which matches the theme of the card.

I also used embossed cardstock that also has little trees. Plus I added a sentiment and a small green flower embellishment from my stash.

Card Recipe:
Cricut die cut - Live Simply
Cardstock - Bazzill
Embellishments - Recollections
Patterned Paper - Imaginisce
Ribbon - American Crafts

Etsy Inspired - Shabby Birdcage

Sunday, July 25, 2010

Here's a weekend card project that I just completed. There's kind of a shabby chic feel to it.

I was inspired to make this card from the Etsy Inspired Challenge this week. I visited the EmenGee Designs shop on Etsy and absolutely love the Bird in a Cage mini clasp purse.
I overlayed embossed paper over brown cardstock and continued from there. The 3 small pink flowers in the corner are from Making Memories and are actually made of metal. I adhered the birdcage on top of an Anna Griffin journal tag before adhering it to the card. The birdcage is a Recollections brand dimensional sticker.

I also added a chipboard sentiment from Me & My Big Ideas along with some pink patterned ribbon.

I may keep this one for myself because I love the chocolate and pink color combination.

Cricut to Introduce New Imagine Machine

Wednesday, July 21, 2010

This is news for all of you Cricut Lovers out there. I was so excited this morning when I got an email from Scrapbookupdate.com that Provo Craft will announce a NEW Cricut machine very soon. And this one will both CUT and PRINT. I hear talk of computer software as well that will contain fonts and graphics. Woo Hoo now this is my kind of machine. There are so many things you can create with technology like that.

Here's the full scoop from Scrapbookupdate.com:

Cricut To Introduce “Imagine” Machine That Both Cuts & Prints?

Provo Craft has been hinting that it has a big new product introduction coming again for CHA Summer 2010. According to recent trademark filings with the US Patent & Trademark office, that machine may be an offering called the Cricut Imagine that will both cut and print – a first for the company as well as for the scrapbook industry’s highly competitive electronic die cutting segment.

On March 19th, attorneys for Provo Craft filed an application to receive a trademark on the term “Cricut Imagine”. The description for the usage of the trademarked term reads:
Electronic cutting and printing machines for cutting and printing on paper, cardboard, plastic, and other materials in flat form, and accessories therefore; blades for electronic cutting machines
There’s also a reference to the term being used to market “Computer software containing fonts and graphics for use in operating electronic cutting and printing machines for cutting and printing on paper, cardboard, plastic, and other materials in flat form” as well as “plastic cutting mats”.

The only other Cricut trademark application that refers to printing is the Cricut Script application from 2007. That term was trademarked and used to sell the original “baby bug” machine via QVC, with emphasis on the ability to use the ink-drawing cartridges with it. The trademark for the Cricut Expression machine, filed more recently than the one for the Cricut Script, does not mention printing.

In the past, Provo Craft has applied for trademarks shortly before a product was introduced. The Cricut Cake trademark was only filed for on January 20th, literally two days before the product’s public unveiling at the CHA Craft Supershow that preceded CHA Winter 2010 in Anaheim.

A Fantabulous Christmas

Monday, July 19, 2010

It's Christmas in July week here at Fantabulous Cricut. It's really hot here in Texas right about now so this challenge is just what I need!

For Challenge #19 you are to create a Christmas themed project to get ready for the upcoming holiday. As always there is a Fantabulous Cricut Cartridge prize. Be sure to hop on over and upload your project today.

For this challenge I created a Christmas card by cutting the beautiful oval shape on the Home Decor Cricut cartridge. You can find this cut on the far right side of your key pad next to the' "space key. Press the "shift" key first. I used the inside oval and saved the outer one for another project.

I actually cut out the reindeer from patterned paper from my stash. I wish I knew who made it. It's so pretty. Then I used the rest of that same paper on top of the white cardstock. I added a sheer black ribbon bow to the side to dress it up a bit. The stamp I used is from the "Happy Everything" set from Stampin Up!

The pearl butterfly on this layout was part of my blog hop winnings from Lucky Girl Crafts. Thanks Jessica for my lovely goodies. I'll be using more of my winnings soon!

I also used 5 bright colored buttons in different sizes, a big bright flower,
ribbon, and chipboard embellishements to dress it up a bit.

Fantabulous Treats

Monday, July 12, 2010

It's time for another Fantabulous Cricut challenge. This week's theme is "Cool Treats" with an optional shape. That means you need to create a shaped card or project (not required, just suggested) using ice cream, watermelon, sweet treats, etc.

There are some Fantabulous prizes up for grabs so be sure to visit the site and link up your project.

For my take on the project I altered a pre-made die cut that I bought at a scrapbook store. It was already made into the shape of a cupcake. I altered it by cutting the "Happy Birthday" font using the Sweet Treats Cricut cartridge. I also cut a smaller cupcake and placed it in the center using the same cartridge.

I added glitter around the words and the heart. I also added cute ribbon, a polka dot strip of paper at the bottom, and embellishments. I love to make place mats for parties. If you made several of these they would make great party decor.

Don't forget to enter the Fantabulous Challenge this week. Good Luck!
