Celebratin' My Bekah!

I made a promise to myself to work on more layouts so here you go! This one is dedicated to my oldest daughter Rebekah. Can't wait till she comes home from college again. We miss her!

These are 2 pictures of Bekah. One when she was in elementary school and the bigger one of her in high school. This is a "Celebration of Life" layout that I just completed for her album. One more layout down and 1,000 more to go! (smile)

I used different types of lettering and font on this to add something different to the design. I also like the scroll effects that are imprinted on this paper.

I used the beautiful sketch over at Sketches in Thyme for this one. I also used the theme over at Frosted Designs to design the page. Here is another view of the layout. I love using flowers. The fabric ribbon from American Crafts is also one of my favorites. I had to add it since it matched the color scheme.

  Here's a close-up picture of the paper that I used. I love the journaling effects that is imprinted on this paper. I also used these cute American Crafts buttons.

Mr. Monster Talks!

Happy Weekend! I need to enjoy myself for the next couple of days since I have to be back at school on Monday. So much to do! I still don't know how I want to decorate my classroom this year...sigh....but back to some creative fun!

Here's a fun card that I just finished with a cute little monster embellishment. I wanted to keep the design clean so that he stands out more. I designed this card after I "Cased" out another designer. I "cased" Agata over at the Cas-tastic Challenge blog. To see her cute monster card please click HERE.

 I had fun by putting on the words "Are you talking to me?". I'm a junior high school teacher and teens really love to say this to each other or to a teacher when they get caught doing something wrong. Gotta love those teens! I think this card would be great to give to a teenage boy!

The little monster is made by a company called Paper Crate. I love his orange and kind of rustic color.

Sassy Paper Bag Album Tutorial!

I am the Guest Designer today over on the  She's a Sassy Lady blog. My August tutorial project today is a "Sassy Paper Bag Album"! I love to make altered projects so this one was fun for me.

Materials You will need:

• 3 Paper bags
• Hole Puncher
• Ribbon, eyelets, book rings, or fibers
• Your favorite pattern paper
• A bunch of your favorite embellishments

First lay your paper bags on top of each other. Make sure that the middle bag is going the opposite way of the first and the last bag. Adhere your bags together. You can adhere them using stitching, brads, staples or eyelets. I love to stitch/sew them together for better durability.

Here's a close-up picture of the stitching and the holes that I punched. I punch from the outside going in so that I can gauge a good distance between each hole to keep it even.

I also love the ready made built-in pockets that are formed when you put your paper bag album together. These pockets are great for storing mementos, cute tags, journal blocks, or any other keepsake.

Here's the paper bag album after it's put together and ready to decorate. Now it's time to make your pages. 

With your paper trimmer cut enough patterned paper to cover each page. I cut each paper piece at 5" x 5.5".

Adhere each of your papers to the front cover and each page of your album.  Also make sure to cut and adhere some photo mats or pockets to store journal tags. You can also ink the sides to make the mats stand out.

 This is how one of my pages looks with journaling tags. 

I made the pocket to hold the journal tags with patterned paper. 

Now it's time to embellish. I used various embellies from Me & My Big Ideas.

 I add my ribbon last after I make sure all of my patterned paper and embellishments are sturdy and secure. Add different color and textured ribbon to make it more colorful.

Decorate your pages any way you want. It's best to use coordinating papers that match well together. I used paper from a ColorBok kit so that all the papers would go well together.

You & Me = Us

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. I've been out and about for the last 4 days spending time with my family and got back into my craft room today to enter some fun challenges.

I created a clean and simple card this time around. I love the color and pattern of the paper that I used.

Each and every embellishment that I used is made of chipboard including the glitter alphas. I love the black and white polka dot design of the chipboard. I placed the words "you and me" on top of the black and white polkas to add more dimension to the card.

I also love bling and love to see it used on chipboard. It brings some shine and dazzle to the design. I'm definitely turning into a chipboard fanatic.
