Bekah's Cute Updo!

Monday, October 18, 2010

It's Layout Time! Here's one featuring Bekah's prom hairdo. She decided on an updo and put a flower in her hair. Loved this look on her so I had to make a layout using these pics.

My goal is to improve the look of my layouts. I'm such a card making person but I've been making more and more layouts lately. You'll start seeing more of them on my blog as I work on new ones for the next couple of months.

I always visit Tanya's blog and found out about a new Multi-Photo Layout challenge called "Get Picky". Here's their first sketch challenge. It's such a cute sketch so I had to participate in this one.
I simply love embellishments and used several different elements on this layout. I used glitter accent tags, buttons, a jewel, doilies, ribbon, flowers. and even a mini wooden clothespin.
Of course I had to add a flower. I backed it with doilies. And I love this metal brad and trim too!
Here's another shot. I loved using 3 side-by-side photos.
I had a super fun time making this layout! :)

Pleating Is So Much Fun!

Wednesday, October 13, 2010

I had so much fun making this card. I've never done pleating before but had to try it on this card for the Moxie Fab World - Perfectly Placed Pleats Challenge.

I also used this cute sketch from 2 Sketches 4 You to design my card.

Caardvarks is also having a Scraplift Challenge. I used Ashley Cannon Newell's card as my inspiration.
Instead of using a sticker - I actually made my own sticker using patterned paper.

Here are the details. First, I love this paper from My Mind's Eye. I used this paper to make my main embellishment on the card. Instead of using the entire sheet I just cut out the Hot Air Balloon and separated it from the rest of the paper.
After I cut out the Hot Air Balloon I used flat shipping cardboard like this and adhered the balloon to it.
I always have a lot of this flat cardboard lying around from other items that I order online.
Using the cardboard also makes the design more sturdy for my card. It also allowed me to pop the design up a bit. After adhering the hot air balloon, I then cut around the cardboard and used Glue Dots Pop Ups to adhere it.

Here's a close-up shot of the pleating. I used a strip of sheer red ribbon then added my pleating below it for more dimension and a visual effect on the design.
The pleats go so well with the design of the card.
I can't wait to try this on a layout.

I hope you enjoyed my pleating project. I can't wait to do more of this!

Red Blooms!

Monday, October 11, 2010

Happy Monday everyone. I hope you all enjoyed your weekend. Here's my latest card. Flowers are my Fave! I love the big bloom on this one. I hope you enjoy it too!

I used the Get Sketchy Card Challenge Sketch for my card. Here it is!

I also used inspiration from the Etsy Inspired Challenge this week. The online store "Lemon Kissed" has the prettiest jewelry. I drew inspiration from the Darling Dahlias earrings.

I love the metal flower piece in the center of this big red bloom.

My Little Cutie!

Wednesday, October 6, 2010

It's time for another fun challenge over at The Paper Variety. This week is a "Scraplift Challenge". Each Design Team member created an "Anything Goes" scrapbook page. The challenge? Draw inspiration from one of the DT projects and show us your take on it.

Here's a layout featuring my daughter Rachel. She's 14 now and I'm still behind on finishing up her album with photos from her younger days. One day I'll get all caught up (Smile)

Love this paper by K & Company.
I also added Journaling Strips for more fun.

Don't you just love Little Bo Peep?
Fits so well with the other papers and embellishments that I used.

The prize this week is a Bo Bunny - Winter Joy Prize Pack

I also entered this in a couple of fun challenges over at Southern Girls Challenge and Scrap, Inspire, Create.

Halloween Fun & Tutorial with Glue Dots®

Monday, October 4, 2010

It's time for some Halloween fun! Here's my new project as a Design Team member for Glue Dots®. I love making altered projects so this one was a lot of fun.

I'm making several of these with different papers for my daughter in college and one of her buddies. Rebekah is 19 years old but still loves to get goodies from her Mommy in the mail (SMILE).

To make these just pop into your local craft store and pick up a tin. They come in different sizes. Here's the one I used.
I then turned my patterned paper upside down and traced each side of the tin.
This helps you get the correct measurements before adhering your paper.
I used Glue Dots® "Glue Lines" on the edges of the paper to keep it tightly secured to the tin.
Secure your favorite paper to all four sides.
Once this is done you can add your embellishments.
I used Glue Dots® "Pop Ups" to secure several cute Halloween themed die cuts.
Don't fret....these particular die-cuts were printed on both sides.
I used the other side for my decor.
Place your pop-ups on all sides before adhering to your tin.
Here's how I decorated the sides. You can use your own decorative style with these.
That's what makes designing them so much fun.
Here's a look at the back.
I decorated each side differently to add to the Halloween fun.

Don't forget to add your favorite ribbon. The more the merrier!
I found the cutest "Trick Or Treat" ribbon to use. Love it.
I hope you enjoyed this Tutorial and Halloween Project. These are great for giving to your kiddos, college students, military members, or anyone else that ya love! For more fun please join Glue Dots® on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/GlueDotsFans

If you've created a Halloween project recently please leave a comment below. I'd love to stop by your blog to see it.

I had so much fun yesterday for World Card Making Day! It was fun visiting everyone's blogs to see the cute creations they made.

Here's another card for you before the weekend ends. I made this one for a child that I mentor at school. She's very girly but loves sports....especially soccer. Can't wait to give this to her.

I also wanted to enter this over at the Paper Cutz Challenge. You had to use 3 designer papers. I used papers from Making Memories, Fancy Pants Designs, and used Sassafras paper to make the scallop border.

I also entered this at Crafty Hos' Challenge Blog for National Children's Day and at The Pink Elephant for their "Childhood Challenge".

Card Recipe:

Happy World Card Making Day!

Saturday, October 2, 2010

I love to make cards so of course I wanted to celebrate today because it's "World Card Making Day!

It's a holiday for card makers around the world to celebrate the creativity of handmade cards and the personal connection that they create between friends and family. Here's a card in honor of this special day. I've entered it in several fun challenges today too.

I'm a Language Arts teacher so Reading and Child Literacy is important to me. That's why I had to join in on the fun challenges going on over at Frosted Designs this week.

You are supposed to design a project based on inspiration from a book. I love the "Junie B. Jones" children's book series and used it as inspiration for my card.

Junie always wears the cutest little dresses and tights.
When I saw this little dress from Jolee’s Boutique, I knew that I had to use it on my card.
 Love these chipboard flowers.
I used 3 on this one and also entered this in the fun challenge going on
over at The Sisterhood of Crafters.
I also entered this over at Pile It On for their Cute & Charming Challenge.
I also just found out that Torendi is having a challenge today for WCMD. We are to draw from this inspirational photo. Some of these little girls have on the cutest little dresses. I think my card fits in well with their challenge too.
If you made a card for this special day please leave your link in the comments section below. I'd love to hop by today to see your creation. Also, please join me again tomorrow for another card debut to celebrate World Cardmaking Day!  And I’ll have more crafty fun on Monday with the debut of my Glue Dots project.
