Fantabulous Treats

Monday, July 12, 2010

It's time for another Fantabulous Cricut challenge. This week's theme is "Cool Treats" with an optional shape. That means you need to create a shaped card or project (not required, just suggested) using ice cream, watermelon, sweet treats, etc.

There are some Fantabulous prizes up for grabs so be sure to visit the site and link up your project.

For my take on the project I altered a pre-made die cut that I bought at a scrapbook store. It was already made into the shape of a cupcake. I altered it by cutting the "Happy Birthday" font using the Sweet Treats Cricut cartridge. I also cut a smaller cupcake and placed it in the center using the same cartridge.

I added glitter around the words and the heart. I also added cute ribbon, a polka dot strip of paper at the bottom, and embellishments. I love to make place mats for parties. If you made several of these they would make great party decor.

Don't forget to enter the Fantabulous Challenge this week. Good Luck!

Sweet Blog Award & New Blog Stuff

Thursday, July 8, 2010

Whew...this week is flying by. I haven't been blogging much this week because I've actually been unpacking and redecorating. I'm trying to get caught up. I wanted to share with you some NEW INFO that you will now find on my blog and a sweet bloggy award that I received.

First, BIG THANKS to Kim over at Memories In Thyme for giving me the Cherry on Top blog award. She is so sweet. Be sure to check out her blog and her wonderful crafty creations.

The rules for this award are:
1. Thank the person who gave this award to you
2. Copy the award and put it on your blog.
3. List three things which you love about yourself.
4. Post a picture you love.
5. Tag five people you wish to pass this award on to.

Three things I love about myself.....
1. I love that I'm a Mom to my sweet angels - Rebekah & Rachel. I love them so much!
2. I love that God filled me with "craftiness" so that I can make stuff for my family & friends.
3. I love that God gave me the gift of writing & words. I'm trying to use it more and more to impact people in a positive way!

Hmmmm  post a picture I love. That's a hard one because I have so many. The obvious are pictures of my daughters. But I'm going to choose something different. I love flowers and think they are one of God's most beautiful creations. Here's a picture of my favorite flower - The Tulip. What a beautiful flower! I'd fill every room in my home with them if I could.
I'd like to pass this award on to some of my new bloggy friends - Kate (Small Bits of Paper), Allison (Too Many Projects, Too Little Time), Calypso (Calypso's Candy Craft),  Candace (Scrap-a-Doodle-Dee), and Gracie- aka Paper Princess (Gracie May's Creations)

Now I'd like to tell you about some NEW features on my blog.......
At the top of my blog you see see "TABS" that will direct you to some new info.
1. The "Cuteness on the Web" tab -  is where you will find out the latest and greatest products that I have ordered recently. I order new stuff all the time so check back often if you are an online shopper like me :)

2. The "Giveaways & Blog Candy" tab - is where you will find out about contests, giveaways, and blog candy here on my blog and all across the web. If you are giving away blog candy just email me at cokiepop@yahoo.com and I will include you on my list.

Enjoy the rest of your week. I'm headed back for more unpacking and organizing.

Disney Passport Fun!

Wednesday, July 7, 2010

Today is my day to feature the tutorial over at the She's a Sassy Lady blog. This time the focus of today's project is on Disney. At my house - "We Love The Mouse"!

My two angels - Rebekah & Rachel love our trips to Disney World. My project today is called "Disney Passport Mania". Below are instructions to make your own passport.

These passports are great for:

1. Giving as a gift to someone that is going or just got back from Disney. You can even surprise someone by sticking airline tickets to Orlando and Disney park passes in them.
2. Great for holding your Disney mementos such as (park maps, tickets, brochures, etc.)
3. You can also stick this inside a page protector of your Disney album.

Now on to the project instructions:

First, grab an unused scrapbook that you have lying around and remove the white insert out of one of the page protector sleeves. These inserts are somewhat like thinner chipboard. They will serve as the base of our project.

Place your white insert flat on a table. I took this insert from an 8" x 8" album. With my paper trimmer, I cut a strip of red cardstock at 8" x 4". You can adjust this cut depending on what size album that you took your white insert from. Adhere the red strip to your white insert using a Zig pen or other adhesive. Make sure you only adhere the sides and bottom of your red strip. This will serve as our pocket so we need to leave room in the middle to place our Disney mementos in.

Next choose 3 of your favorite Disney patterned paper.

Now cut one of your favorite papers to make another strip. I cut mine at 8" x 3-3/4". Then center and adhere that paper on top of your red cardstock to look like this.

Pick your second favorite Disney patterned paper to cut the last strip. This time cut it at 8" x 2" and adhere it to the top of your white insert like this.

Now we need to type up a cute sentiment or journal spot that will fit the occasion. I typed this up about Rebekah & Rachel. Then I used my Zig pen and adhered it to the left side of my Disney passport. You can use any cute font that you like. If you are looking for cute fonts check out:
http://www.kevinandamanda.com/

Now we need to make a Mickey face cut with the Cricut. For this I used the Disney Mickey Font cartridge and cut Mickey's face at 3". This cut can be found on pages 72 and 74.  I also added an "M" to the center of my Mickey Face to dress it up a bit. I then used adhesive to stick this next to the sentiment/journal spot on my passport.

We are almost done. Now we need to add some Disney mementos to our passport. You can stick anything into the red pocket such as Disney brochures, park tickets, park maps, airline tickets, etc.

To finish things off I wanted to add some ribbon. Either red or black ribbon would look great with this project. I decided to go with black sheer ribbon. I just wrapped it around my Disney passport and tied a bow in the center.

And once again here is the finished project

I hope that you enjoyed my Disney Passport tutorial. Please visit the She's a Sassy Lady blog. Sheila and the rest of the Sassy Divas have great tutorials there.

Have a Creative Day!

Fantabulous Cricut Lite Project

Monday, July 5, 2010

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a Blessed 4th of July holiday. It's time once again for Fantabulous Cricut Challenge #17. This week's challenge is called Creepy Crawlers. Your are to create a card, layout, or altered item with your Cricut using any type of bug and include the color "orange" somewhere on your project.

For my take on the challenge I made a "Candy Centerpiece" using one of the new Cricut Lite cartridges called "Live Simply".

I love the cute images on this one. I'll definitely be making more projects with this very soon. This cart also has the cutest images on it like my favorite....Create a Critter.

I added Stickles to bling it up a bit. I also used orange colored straws and pop dots to make the bees stand up in the glass jar.  The flowers are so thick and the dots keep falling off today so I ended up sewing the flowers together to make them sit straight and centered.

I'm going to sit this on my desk on the first day of school. My students love to snack on Skittles so this will be useful to me all year long.

I also wanted to enter this in the "Favorite Things" and "Sew and Sew" challenge. I love, love, love Skittles (especially the yellow ones). I also love to create with flowers and Stickles. Love that bling! (Smile)
