Etsy Inspired #124 - Too Kute Kawaii

Saturday, January 29, 2011

Don'tcha just love Saturdays? I sure do cause that means it's Etsy Inspired Time!

We are featuring the cutest shop this week - Too Kute Kawaii. This shop is full of ADORABLE polymer clay jewelry, hair bows, and more.

I was inspired by several things in this shop. I love the bright colors especially in these Pink Cupcake Toppers and the Happy Apple Tree earrings.

Hello Kitty is so Kawaii style to me so I had to add the Pink Diva to my creation. I made a gift box for an upcoming baby shower. The Hello Kitty that I used is actually AN ERASER. Got it from the dollar section at Michael's craft store. :)  I also added the little tree because it reminded me of the Happy Apple Tree earrings in the shop.

Here's how you can play along with Etsy Inspired:

♥ Find an item that you like from Too Kute Kawaii.
♥ Create some cuteness!
♥ Link your creation up to EIC by Friday, Feb. 4th.

Once again we will have 2 winners this week. The shop winner will receive some cute Mocha Cupcake stud earrings. And the sponsor winner will receive 4 digis from Meljen's Design Digital Stamps.

And be sure to check out the talented EIC design team for more crafty fun!

Etsy Inspired #123 - Nanny's Room

Saturday, January 22, 2011

It's Saturday! Time for my Fave challenge of the week. It's Etsy Inspired Time!

Our featured shop is Nanny's Room. This shop is full of beautiful Southwestern style art and glass pendant necklaces.

I am trying to spruce up my layouts so I altered some Maya Road kraft envelopes to use as embellies for my pages. I'll use these on some future layouts so stay tuned. I was inspired by all of the floral glass pendants in this shop.

I just got all of this Pink Paislee yumminess in the mail. It's from their Sweetness collection. The border at the bottom of my envelope is made of canvas. (love it) :)

I also used a Sweetness badge (on the very top), and felt embellishments. I added some twine too. To see this pretty Pink Paislee Sweetness collection click HERE.

Here's how you can play along with Etsy Inspired:
♥  Find an item that you like from Nanny's Room.
♥  Create some cuteness!
♥  Link your creation up to EIC by Friday, January 28th.

My Words / Her Journey

Tuesday, January 18, 2011

I've noticed that a lot of bloggers are participating in Ali Edwards' "One Little Word". It got me to thinking...what word could I choose for 2011?

I couldn't just think of one word...but I could think of three. My Word(s) for 2011 are...

 "SUPPORTING A CAUSE"

My layout is based on these words. But wait...I need a sketch. I used (and flipped around) this cute one from Sketchy Thursdays.

I also joined in on the "Fave Quote" challenge going on at These Are a Few Of My Favorite Things.

I've never blogged about this before, but I have been touched by a lot of your personal stories. Your stories have helped me so much. Perhaps I can do the same for others.

I'm getting more involved and working with a cause that is near and dear to my heart. It's an organization called - Autism Speaks!

My youngest daughter, Rachel, has Pervasive Developmental Disorder. PDD is a mild form of Autism. She also has some developmental delays. This layout is dedicated to her "JOURNEY".

I placed this Red Rose on the layout to symbolize Rachel's beauty and strength. Some days are a struggle, but through it all she has God, her family, and the best docs and therapists in the world working with her.

I also added this great quote from Eleanor Roosevelt:

“We gain strength, and courage, and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face... we must do that which we think we cannot.”

This quote fits Rachel so well. She has a "Can Do" Attitude and knows that her strength comes from above! :)

And look at this Maya Road kraft envelope. I placed a picture of Rachel selling Girl Scout cookies on the top of it. She loves selling those cookies. :)

I am dedicating more posts on my blog this year to be a "Helper" and "Supporter" to people who have children with disabilities. If you have a child with a disability please remember - You Are Not Alone!

If you have a child on the Autism spectrum please check out Autism Speaks, the HollyRod Foundation, and Generation Rescue.

Layout Supplies:
Patterned Paper (My Mind's Eye - Lost & Found - Union Square); Patterned Paper (Echo Park - Life is Good); Kraft Envelope (Maya Road); Red Flower (Hobby Lobby); Brown Trim (My Mind's Eye - Fine and Dandy - True Blue Trims); Flower Button Paper Clips (KI Memories, Inc.); Red Buttons (Basic Grey); Quote Font (Andalus)

Etsy Inspired # 122 - Modern Bird

Saturday, January 15, 2011

It's Etsy Inspired time!!! And boy do we have an awesome shop for you this week. Our featured shop is Modern Bird. This shop is full of handcrafted silver jewelry designed by Laura Flavin. Her work includes themes of love, nature, peace, and growth.

I was inspired by the Gabriella giraffe necklace. I'm still in an altered project kind of mood. I started off with this...

 And ended up with this...

I'm getting projects ready for upcoming craft shows and made this altered baby bucket using the cutest wooden & felt giraffe that I found at Michael's craft store.

I also added some colorful trim to the top and bottom.

Here's how you can play along with Etsy Inspired:

♥  Find an item that you like from Modern Bird.

I layered various die-cuts from The Girls' Paperie on my card. The "Lucky" letters are also from T.G.P. I then added a splash of color with some fancy American Crafts ribbon. I think the colors go well against the kraft cardstock.

Dedicated to My Fave Scrappers!

Friday, January 7, 2011

I vowed to do more layouts this year. Here's my latest!

My inspiration came from the "These are A Few of My Favorite Scrappers" challenge going on at These Are a Few of My Favorite Things.  I also needed some ideas for the layout so I used the fun sketch over at Blue Moon Scrapbooking.

The photo in this layout is one of my faves. Nana & Papa (my Mom and Dad) are always there for my daughters. They attend soooo many events for my girls to show their love and support. This page is dedicated to them.

I'm a flower fanatic. I love these mulberry paper flowers.

These Making Memories chipboard alpha stickers are way cool.
I love the script writing on them.

I have several favorite scrappers. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE their layouts. Their photos, their embellishments, their choice of paper, their overall designs are FAB. I stalk their blogs often to look for inspiration and to be WOWED by their design style.

This layout is dedicated to these talented ladies. Please feel free to click on each name to check out their fab designs.

Val, Aphra, Tanya, Fern, Debbie, Sarah, Danielle, and Nicole.

Who is your Fave Scrapper?

Bye Bye Starbucks!

Wednesday, January 5, 2011

I'm having some New Year's Resolution fun today to go along with the fun challenge going on at Papercraft Star this week. I hope you all join in on the crafty fun!

New Year's Resolution Project

Make a card, layout, altered item, gift or home decor project using one of your New Year's Resolutions as your inspiration. Be sure to include the New Year's Resolution as part of your project description on your blog!

My goal is to drink more water and stay out of the drive-thru line at Starbucks.
Pray for me!!! :)

I added some fun elements to my layout including an actual Starbucks coffee cup sleeve and sticker. I printed part of the text on patterned paper using some fun font. I then added brightly colored American Crafts Thickers.

Here's my journaling. I'll miss my Chocolate Chip Frappuccino!

I added this coffee cup from Cosmo Cricket.
I used my A.C. Thickers to mark a "BIG RED X" over it.

Here's a full shot of the page!

I also linked this up at Paper Issues for their "New" Challenge.
