Play Date Cafe - I'm Nutty '4' Cookies

Thursday, August 30, 2012

Are you hungry yet?

Today, I'm mixing baking and crafting all in one post for this week's Play Date Cafe Challenge. This week's color story includes - Evergreen, Olive, Smoke, and Cherry Blossom.

I made these items to add to a birthday gift box for a friend. I even used a shredder to make some paper shavings to add to the box as well.

The doily tag was made using the fun "I'm Nutty 4 U" Gel-a-tins  stamp.

I also made some homemade walnut chocolate chip cookies. The stamp fits in perfectly with the cookie treats. I placed each one in a small cellophane bag & dressed it up with a colorful flower.

This project is easy peasy and so great for gift giving.

Gel-a-tins is our wonderful sponsor this week.

Play Date Cafe - Playful Paper Pockets

Thursday, August 23, 2012

It's back to school time and I've got some fun projects for ya today that I made for my students and fellow teachers.

I have named this one  - "Playful Paper Pockets"

And be sure to play along with us at The Play Date Cafe. We've got a beautiful color story for you today. The colors are - Black, White, and a splash of Lime Green.

We got to play with some wonderful SRM Stickers this week too!

I made this pocket to give to one of my students this school year. I love to make gifts for them when they show respect, good manners, help out a fellow classmate, or work extra hard on a project. I used SRM's - Year of Memories - 2013 Sticker. I added a small wooden pencil on the inside. I will also add a granola bar or some other treat as well.

And this one is for a fellow teacher. I love to give my co-workers something crafty for their birthday. I will add a gift card to this pocket. I used SRM's - Stickers by the Dozen - Birthday.

Be sure to play along and link up on the PDCC blog. And remember, your project can be anything crafty just as long as it follows this week's color story!

Play Date Cafe - Thank You Canvas Tag

Thursday, August 16, 2012

I have a fun project for ya today!

Check out my "Thank You Canvas Tag"

It's the start of a new challenge at The Play Date Cafe and this week's color story has a yummy color combo. The colors are Burnt Sienna, Mustard, and Slate.

This tag was so fun to make. First, I whipped out my roll of Hobby Lobby stretched canvas. I used a tag template, a pencil, and scissors to trace and cut out the tag.

Instead of using patterned paper, I cut a strip of the floral Decadence Damask fabric by Samantha Walker. I also added a strip of Stampin' Up's Designer Fabric. I used fabric glue to adhere them to the tag. {You can find the SW Fabric in the Riley Blake store}

I also added some SRM Stickers along with a Creative Charms flower, and a mini clothespin. You can easily use these tags on gift bags and boxes. They are so quick, easy, and fun to make.

Be sure to link up on the PDCC blog. The fabulous Momenta is this week's sponsor!

And remember, your project can be anything crafty just as long as it follows this week's color story!

Splash of Color!

Friday, September 23, 2011

Hey ya'll! I'm so glad it's Friday. I've been running around all week long like a marathon runner. Errands here...meetings there...pick up this....pick up that... My brain is tired just thinking about all the things I've done this week.

Last night I just ignored all of the other things on my "To Do List" and made some new cards. I actually felt relaxed and just let the creativity flow. I need more moments like this. :)

I've been wanting to play at The Play Date Cafe for weeks now. Look at this yummy color combo they've got going.

I decided to make a Christmas card using the color combo. I love holiday cards that break away from the traditional colors.

The orange polka dots and the splashes of green made this so fun for me. And check out the yellow elements too (star on the tree and the button).

Sooo...what do you all have planned this weekend? I'm planning to spend more time in my craft room for sure.

P.S. There's a DT call going on over at Creative Charms. Be sure to check it out. Their products are awesome. And sadly, Jessica has decided to close down the Lucky Girl Crafts Kit Club. Be sure to check out the sale going on this weekend.

Live With Gratitude & Thanksgiving!

Tuesday, November 9, 2010

With Thanksgiving fast approaching I am making some cards to give to several friends to "Thank Them" for all of their love and suppport that they have given to my life this past year. Here is one of the cards that I made.

I am also taking the time to thank God for his many blessings that he has given me. I am definately in a Thanksgiving kind of mood. It's my favorite holiday.

I drew inspiration for this card from several fun places on the web this week. Paper Issues is putting the spotlight on Thanksgiving so I linked up there to join in on the fun.

Also, the City Crafter Challenge blog is hosting a "Thank You" Challenge and Off The Wall Craftiness has this beautiful picture inspiration.

The Play Date Cafe is also playing with these beautiful colors.

I love to do pleating on cards now after I tried it a couple of weeks ago. Here's a close-up shot of my pleats for this one! I used some cute Teresa Collins paper to make them.

I also added an oversized tag and jewel.
I also love the Gratitude sentiment which is also from Teresa Collins - Giving Thanks collection.
I'm putting this scripture inside the card along with a poem. Here's the scripture - "Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving. Sing praises to our God...." - (Psalm 147:7)

And here is the Thanksgiving poem for special friends:
Thanksgiving is a time
For reviewing what we treasure,
The people we hold dear,
Who give us so much pleasure.

Without you as my friend,
Life would be a bore;
Having you in my life
Is what I’m thankful for.

What are you thankful for this year?
