Alter Somethin' Days - Vinyl

Monday, September 26, 2011

Happy Monday everyone! Thank you for joining me for this segment of Alter Somethin' Days. If you are new to my blog this segment is a bi-weekly feature to show crafters the fun they can have making altered projects.

This week's project is:
An Altered Frame Using Vinyl

Here are some quick and easy steps to make your own:

1. Use a 9" x 9" Ikea - "Ribba" frame. You can easily take it apart and alter it any way that you like.

2. Cut a piece of embossed cardstock to 9" x 9". I used Bazzill - Wallpaper "Raven" embossed cardstock.

3. Use adhesive and secure the embossed cardstock to the back base of the frame.

4. Take off the backing of your vinyl and position it in the center of your embossed cardstock. I used an old credit card to rub over the vinyl and secured it to the paper. The vinyl that I used is from Stampin Up!

5. Now that your vinyl is secure, peel away the top sheet.

6. Your vinyl should now lay flat and smooth against the embossed cardstock. Now assemble your frame back together and your project is done.

My kitchen is a Chef theme with red, black, & white sprinkled all over. This project will go perfect in there!

I Hope you found some inspiration from today's project. If you make something with vinyl please be sure to let me know. I'd love to stop by your blog and take a look. And if you love altered projects be sure to play along in LESSology Challenge #2: The Trinket Box

I'm joining in at the following Linky Parties:

Splash of Color!

Friday, September 23, 2011

Hey ya'll! I'm so glad it's Friday. I've been running around all week long like a marathon runner. Errands here...meetings there...pick up this....pick up that... My brain is tired just thinking about all the things I've done this week.

Last night I just ignored all of the other things on my "To Do List" and made some new cards. I actually felt relaxed and just let the creativity flow. I need more moments like this. :)

I've been wanting to play at The Play Date Cafe for weeks now. Look at this yummy color combo they've got going.

I decided to make a Christmas card using the color combo. I love holiday cards that break away from the traditional colors.

The orange polka dots and the splashes of green made this so fun for me. And check out the yellow elements too (star on the tree and the button).

Sooo...what do you all have planned this weekend? I'm planning to spend more time in my craft room for sure.

P.S. There's a DT call going on over at Creative Charms. Be sure to check it out. Their products are awesome. And sadly, Jessica has decided to close down the Lucky Girl Crafts Kit Club. Be sure to check out the sale going on this weekend.

The theme for Challenge #32 is "Autumn"

Autumn reminds me of Halloween time so I "dressed up" some treats to pass out at my school.

Be Yourself ..... Be Creative!

Be Yourself...Be Creative!

That's one of the things that Nana & Papa always tell my kiddos.

Here's my latest page that will be included in the "Grandparent's Day" book for Nana & Papa. I'm playing along this week in the fun challenge at The Kraft Journal!

I used some fun kraft along with the yummy goodies from the Lucky Girl Crafts September kit. It's full of some fun Jillibean Soup products too. :)

I love this corrugated heart.
I added some colorful twine to it.

I used my SU punch on the pretty butterfly paper.
And the Jillibean polka twill is so KEWL!

Here's Rachel with the classic "school pose".
I placed the photo on top of a Jillibean journal card.

"R" is for Rachel
I cut out the letter from the Jillibean paper in the kit.

P.S. - There's still time to play & win 2 prizes at LESSology

Have a Happy Weekend!

Altered Book Time!

Wednesday, September 7, 2011

Come & Join us at LESSology!

The Decorated Book Challenge
(Alter an old board book or an old dictionary. Or make one from scratch)

I started out with a book about "friendship"...

and turned it into this.

Some of the pages of this book were worn, so I did a "page makeover" using yummy My Little Shoebox products. Here are a couple of my fave pages...

This book is full of beautiful "friendship" quotes. I cut some of my faves from the worn pages and added them to the new ones. I also added fun twine and wooden clothespins.

Here's another page. I added an RRR Bitty Bag and tucked a journal card inside. The twine is from The Twinery.

I love the cover page. It actually makes me laugh because I used to wear my hair just like this when I was a little girl. :) And look at those cute Creative Charms gradient gems in her hair.

Love this Prima flower & the MLS glittery alphas.

LESSology's first challenge is sponsored by Creative Charms.

And we are not just giving away one prize...but we are giving away two Creative Charms prize packs this week. Be sure to link up {HERE}. You have 2 weeks to play. Can't wait to see your fun & fabulous altered books.
