It's Sketch time over at Practical Scrappers!
Here's the wonderful sketch designed by my fellow design team member Pia!

Here's my take on the sketch!

These are photos of a crop night that I went to with Jennifer and Carolyn. I can't believe I finished another layout. I'm on a roll! I love the black ribbon that I found to go on this one. It dresses it up a bit.

If you want to join in the fun then hop on over to Practical Scrappers and submit your take on this sketch!

All Dressed Up!

Thursday, May 27, 2010

Woo Hoo I finally finished a layout. It's a miracle.....smile. I've been working on cards and altered projects so much that I am way behind on layouts. I'm trying to finish all of my daughter's prom pictures. Rebekah's prom was last May. I'm a whole year behind. Thank God I'm off this summer to finish up my albums.

I cut out the ladies on this layout using my Forever Young Cricut cartridge. I used various patterned paper, flower embellies, a patterned tag, and cardstock for this one. I also used Stickles on the words.

I love Bekah's dress! It's in yellow...my favorite color! Sorry I'm so late with your album Bek! I'll have it finished by the time you come home for summer vacation. I promise!

I also want to send out a THANK YOU to some crafty friends who have motivated me to do more layouts. I absolutely love, love, love all of the beautiful layouts by these talented scrappers:

♥ Barb - Crafty Girl
♥ Val - Crafty Go Lucky
♥ Debbie - Love Life's Little Pleasures
♥ Nana - Younique Reflections
♥ Kim - Memories in Thyme

Thank you ladies for the inspiration. If you have time please check out their layouts.

I also found out about another fun challenge blog called "Scrap It With A Song". Their challenge this week is called - "Sweet Child O' Mine".  I have submitted this layout for their challenge. I hope to join in on more of their contests!

Baby Giraffe Fun!

Wednesday, May 26, 2010

It's time to hop on over to Practical Scrappers
for another great challenge this week.

Break out your felt, fabric, or tulle for this one and create a project to submit. The deadline to is Saturday, May 29th. The Grand Prize is your choice
of three digis from Wink Wink Ink.

Here's my take on the challenge. I made a gift bag for a baby shower. I cut the giraffe, the tag, and the "for you" sentiment using the "New Arrival" Cricut cartridge. I accented the bag with K & Company Wood Dye flowers and topped them with yellow buttons. To finish off the bag, I added brown tulle, yellow ribbon, brown gingham ribbon, and a "smile" chipboard tag.

Now it's your turn to hop on over to Practical Scrappers and submit your project.

Posh and Polka Dots!

Tuesday, May 25, 2010

I love making altered notebooks and wanted to design something with pink, black and polka dots.
Hope you like what I came up with.

I also heard about another great challenge blog called The Shabby Tea Room. Their design team work is beautiful. This week they are having a "Polka Dot Tea Party" challenge. I had to join in on the fun and submitted my "BFF Polka Dot" altered notebook. Check them out when you have time!

I also love the fun challenge going on at Pile it On this week.
There challenge is called - "Out of the Box"
I think my project qualifies so I wanted to join in on their challenge too.

To make this one I took an ordinary spiral notebook and decorated the cover with patterned paper, button embellishments, and sticker embellies from TPC Studio's Girlfriends collection. I also added different types of ribbon including pink tulle, black scrunchie ribbon, and pink spiral ribbon.

I decorated the inside pages with black polka dot border at the top and bottom of each page. On the very first page I also tied more pink spiral ribbon and added a polka dot button. This is a great gift idea to give to your BFF's!

Monkeys love Flowers Too!

Monday, May 24, 2010

It's a Fantabulous Monday and that means a new Fantabulous Cricut challenge begins today.

The challenge - #11 Flowers for May:
Create a project using at least 3 flowers on your project.
Of course there does need to be a cricut cut image somewhere on the project.

I flowered up my card for this challenge by making my monkey out of flower patterened paper. I also added 3 chipboard flowers sprinkled with glitter (to add some bling to the card).

I cut my monkey using my Create a Critter Cricut cartridge.

I also added other monkey themed chipboard embellishments to finish off the card. I wanted to keep the card with feminine elements to it.  I think I'll give this card to a little girl celebrating a birthday or just for fun.

Now it's your turn. Hop on over to Fantabulous Cricut and submit your project. I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Have a great Creative Week!

Put A Window In It!

Friday, May 21, 2010

Everytime I say this title....."Put a Window In It"....I think of
Beyonce's song - "Put A Ring On it!"....LOL

Maybe I can make up a cute jingle for scrappers when they try this technique on a card. I'm just having a little fun on a Friday!.....SMILE

But seriously, the ladies over at The Little Red Wagon are having a fun challenge this week that I wanted to get in on.  Here's a card that I made for their challenge called "Put a Window In It"

This one took some planning since I've never done this before. I also had some difficulties at first getting the fairy's feet to fit into the circle. I used all of my unused stash for this one.

I already had the Create a Critter cartridge in my Cricut and didn't want to load a new cart in the machine, so I just cut the circle out using the ball from the little seal cut. (Cricut carts are so versatile)....smile

Tada....the cirlce cut correctly and the fairy could fit inside.

There was already a little chain hanging from the "happy day" embellishment so I added a pink glitter
brad and a "princess" tag to spruce it up a bit more.

This was so fun to make.
I'll have a tutorial posted on my blog soon for those that want to try this.

Entered in the following challenges:

♥  Little Red Wagon - #29 Put a Window In It
Charisma Cardz - #20 - 3D

Break out your patterned paper for this one and create a project to submit. The deadline for this week's challenge is Saturday, May 22 at 5 pm ET. The Grand Prize is your choice of three digis from Wink Wink Ink.

The sentiment, scallop border, and hearts are also from My Mind's Eye. I also added a strip of soft red ribbon at the bottom as well.

Kitty Best Friend

Tuesday, May 18, 2010

I absolutely love my "Create a Critter" Cricut cartridge. There are so many cute designs on it.

This time around I wanted to make a card by cutting out the Cat. If you have this cart you can find this particular cut on page 38.  I used kraft paper to cut out the cat. I layered it behind with a darker brown cardstock.

I also  used various cardstock, pink flower ribbon, and embellishments from my stash of stuff.  I also added a jewel to the cat's bow tie and threw in a felt flower. I love the rainbow embellishment. It makes the card more bright and cheery.

Hope you like it!

I entered this card in the following challenges:

Frosted Designs - Rainbow challenge

Paper Cutz Challenge - #41 Dog or Cat

Lexi's Creations - #14Sketch challenge

Fantabulous Cricut Challenge #10 - Bags, Boxes Bonanza

Monday, May 17, 2010

It's time for Fantabulous Cricut Challenge #10. This week's challenge is called Bags, Boxes Bonanza! You need to create a 3-D Cricut project. The twist this week is that you must include the color black.

For this challenge I created a Mickey Mouse Box! These are great for parties or to use as gift bags/boxes.   I used the "Once Upon a Princess" cartridge to make the box. I cut box #2. I also used the Home Decor Cricut cartridge to make the stars on Mickey's ears.

The Mickey face is not a Cricut die-cut. It came from Nicole Lombardo's shop on Etsy . She designs the most beautiful die-cuts. I bought some recently and wanted to use them on this box. If you'd like to see her fabulous die-cuts please click here.

Now it's time for you to get started and create something for the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge. This week's winner will get a $20 Gift Certificate from Stamp Out Online. To submit your entry click here!

Good Luck!

Punch It Out at Practical Scrappers

Wednesday, May 12, 2010

It's Wednesday and I wanted to tell all of you about the fun challenge going on over at Practical Scrappers. This week, our challenge is to use punches in a card, layout, or project!

My project for this challenge was inspired by Sandra Lee over at the Food Network. She always showcases her tablescapes. If you don't know what tablescapes are be sure to check out Sandra's website by clicking here.

Tablescapes are her beautiful table decor and place settings that she showcases often on her cooking show.
I wanted to be Sandra Lee for the day so I made these flat place setting cards to be used as table decor for a dinner party. You lay them flat on the table and put silverware on top. Or you can write or type the name of each guest on them.

To make these I punched the green and white flowers using Fiskars punches. Stickles was used to add bling to the center of the flower. The card was made using cardstock and Bo Bunny patterned papers. I embellished it with the punches, the word "Enjoy" and brown tulle.

Not planning a dinner party? Well...this project can also be used as a gift card holder. Simply use a pop dot to hold the gift card in place.

AND.... I wanted to thank the lovely ladies over at A Crafty Little Place (formerly Die Cuts R Us) for picking my "Mellow Yellow Birdie" card as the Sketch Challenge Winner this week. They have a new challenge posted so be sure to click on over there and check it out!!

Also hop on over to the Practical Scrappers site to check out all the cute projects from our design team. Check back often because new design team projects are added daily!!

I also entered this into the following challenges:

Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge - 1, 2, 3 Recipe
Quixotic Challenge - Let your garden grow
Sisterhood of Crafters - Emerald green

Fantabulous Cricut Crawl - Blog Hop, A Tutorial, And Fun Prizes

Monday, May 10, 2010

Welcome to Cokie Pop Paper and the "Fantabulous Cricut Crawl"...our version of a blog hop!

If you've come from visiting the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog then you're in the right place! If you've just happened across my blog and would like to play along with our Fantabulous Cricut Crawl, start here.

For our Fantabulous Cricut Crawl, each Design Team member will be featuring a specific element related to using your Cricut. There will be a wide variety of techniques and elements that will be featured so make sure to check out each DT member's blog! There will be prizes along the way AND there will be a grand prize for the participant that incorporates the most featured elements on ONE project!!! How fun is that?

I'm also giving away a prize on my blog in conjunction with the blog hop. I'm giving away the Cricut Robotz Cartridge. There are so many cute images on this one. Keep reading for details on how to win.
The element I've chose to feature for the crawl is..."Die-Cut Flower Power". You can use any Cricut cartridge with flowers and circles to decorate your flowers. Here is a bundle of flowers that I cut using various patterned paper.

Don't just use plain flower die-cuts on a project. Here are pictures of how I spruce them up a bit by using Stickles, glitter, fabric buttons, bling jewels, or pearls.

I also like to make accordion flowers. Here's how I make mine...First, cut a piece of patterned paper on your Cricut or paper trimmer. It needs to be 12" long and about 1 to 1-1/2" wide. Then fold the paper accordion style like you see here. I used 2 sided paper. I couldn't decide if I wanted the polka dots or the pretty green on the other side. Keep reading to see which side of the paper I chose.

Next, put adhesive on one end of your accordion strip

Tape the two ends together to look like this.

Push it down and in towards the middle. Make sure that the hole in the middle of the flower is small. Hold your flower tightly in place because it will pop back up like the previous photo if you let it go.

With your Cricut - cut out a 2-1/4" cardstock circles and add adhesive to one.

Put the circle piece on top and hold it against the flower for at least 1 minute or until the adhesive dries enough to make a bond. Make sure the flower is even and round.

Flip your flower over and it should be tightly formed into a flower. Add any embellishment to the center.
I added the glitter embellishments I made to bling it up a bit.

Tada...here's my flower

Now it's your turn! See if you can make and use an "accordion flower" on a project. I can't wait to see what you come up with! Remember to incorporate an accordion flower along with the other Fantabulous Design Team elements listed on their blogs. Then be sure to enter your project with all of the elements included at Fantabulous Cricut to be eligible to win.

Your next stop is Brenda's blog, (Brenda's Scrappy Blog). Click here and go see what Brenda has in store for you today... And when you're done, make sure to link up your project to FCCB's Fantabulous Cricut Crawl post to be entered into the contest! Try to see how many elements you can add to your project!!!

And if you'd like to Win the Cricut Robotz Cartridge on my blog then follow these instructions to be eligible to win:

1. Follow my blog.
2. Leave a comment on this post and tell me what you could create with this fun cartridge.
3. Two (2) chances to win if you mention my blog and the Cricut cartridge giveaway on your blog (please leave link details in your comment)
4. Three (3) chances to win if you mention the Fantabulous Cricut Crawl on your blog (please leave link details in your comment)

Happy Crawling!

Enjoy The Puddles!

Sunday, May 9, 2010

Yesterday I was shopping in Hobby Lobby and found this cute figurine to sit on my desk in my craft room. I love the sentiment written on it.

"Every Path Has It's Puddles So I Wear Cute Rain Boots"

I was inspired to make a card that is dedicated to my new figurine.
Here it is! I had to put Hello Kitty on there. She always makes me smile!

Life has it's ups and downs but sometimes we have to handle the "puddles" of difficulties with a little laughter. I will have to save this one and give it to someone who needs a little encouragement.

I finally cut my own chipboard letters for this one with my Cricut. I glittered them up to add some extra shine. Sometimes when you cut chipboard the edges will be a bit rough. To smooth out the edges and give your letters more dimension you should sand the edges. I used a sanding block on mine.

Card Ingredients:
Hello Kitty cut with my Cricut using Hello Kitty Greetings cartridge
Flower in Hello Kitty's hair cut with my Cricut using Forever Young cartridge
The Paper Studio printed paper
Autumn Leaves - rain boot
EK Success flower stickers
Bazzill cardstock
Glitter
Bling jewels
Sanding block

Entered in the following challenges:

Cricut Cardz - #23 Red
Frosted Designs - Sanding Challenge
Pile it On - #18 Cute & Cuddly
Easy Craft Projects - #12 Spring
The Shabby Tea Room - #9 Chipboard Challenge
Crafty Angels - #34 One for the Girls

Enjoy your week!

Sending Love to Mom

I wanted to wish all of you a very Happy Mother's Day!

I must also send love to my wonderful Mom! I had a yummy fajita lunch with her today and had a wonderful time. Here's a picture of my Mom and Dad with my youngest daughter, Rachel.
Mom....or "Mama Joyce" as some call her...has the biggest heart in the world. One of the most important things that Mom has taught me is to "Give". She is always giving or helping someone. She is truly a blessing and a living example of how to care for others in need. Thanks Mom for all that you do!

Today is also my first Mother's Day without my oldest Rebekah here! She went off to college in August way out in sunny California. I miss her dearly.....especially today. She sent me a beautiful bouquet of flowers. I have a big smile on my face. Here's a picture of my Bekah starring in her college production of "Bye Bye Birdie". I can't wait to see her win an Academy Award one day!

I love crafting but my favorite thing in the world is BEING A MOM!

I'm sending blessing out to all of you wonderful moms out there!

Have a Happy Mother's Day!

Practical Scrappers Sticker Challenge

This Week's challenge at Practical Scrappers is "Stickers". Hop on over to the challenge and take a look at the beautiful design team examples for this fun project. Submit your sticker project for a chance to win your choice of three digi stamps from Wink Wink Ink.

For my layout I took a basic black piece of cardstock and added splashes of color to highlight my daughter Rachel's cheerleader competition. I used cheer themed stickers from Jolee's all over the layout. I also used K & Company chipboard stickers at the top center of the page. I then used a strip of cheer scrapbook paper in the center and overlayed that with cardstock and glitter letters.

Fantabulous Cricut Challenge #8 - Teachers

Monday, May 3, 2010

When God created teachers,
He gave us special friends
To help us understand His world
And truly comprehend

The beauty and the wonder
Of everything we see,
And become a better person
With each discovery.

When God created teachers,
He gave us special guides
To show us ways in which to grow
So we can all decide

How to live and how to do
What's right instead of wrong,
To lead us so that we can lead
And learn how to be strong.

Why God created teachers,
In His wisdom and His grace,
Was to help us learn to make our world
A better, wiser place.

This poem by Kevin William Huff shows us why teachers are so important in this world. I'm a teacher myself and love to mentor and guide the 7th graders that I teach. The end of the school year is coming up soon. Show some love to all of those teachers out there.

This week over at the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog we are showing that We Love and Support Our Teachers!  This week's challenge calls for you to create something for a special teacher using an apple shape somewhere on your project.

This week I made a craft supply gift bag for Rachel's art teacher. I'm going to fill it with paint, brushes, glitter, glue and other art supplies. I used the Create a Critter Cricut cartridge to make the apple. I also used the Speaking of School cartridge to make the pencil.  I then added school themed embellishments from K & Company.

So click on over and upload your project. Can't wait to see it!

Happy National Scrapbook Day! - Challenge Fun!

Saturday, May 1, 2010

Today is National Scrapbook Day! It's a GREAT DAY for all of us crafty people out there. There are so many challenges going on in honor of NSD. Keep reading to see where I've entered my page layout. If you are feeling crafty today please join in on the blogs listed below for some fun!

I'm catching up on my layouts and made this one to capture the memories from my daughter Rachel's drill team competition. I tried something different on this layout. I made my own scroll design using Stickles. I'm no artist...but wanted to try something "outside of the box" for this one.

I have so much chipboard lying around so I've used it on one of my favorite techniques on this layout. I definately love to cut chipboard letters with my Cricut and overlay them with glitter or Stickles. It adds a little "bling bling" to the project. I also used my "Forever Young" Cricut cartridge to cut and use the shadow feature for the word "Fierce"

I've entered this in:
♥My Pink Stamper - NSD Challenge #3 - Thinking Outside The Box

♥Sew Many Layouts - Challenge #1 - Show Us What Ya Got

♥One Stop Craft - Challenge #78 - Anything But

♥Scrap Your Crap - Challenge #53 - A to Z
