I couldn't just think of one word...but I could think of three. My Word(s) for 2011 are...
"SUPPORTING A CAUSE"
My layout is based on these words. But wait...I need a sketch. I used (and flipped around) this cute one from Sketchy Thursdays.
I've never blogged about this before, but I have been touched by a lot of your personal stories. Your stories have helped me so much. Perhaps I can do the same for others.
I'm getting more involved and working with a cause that is near and dear to my heart. It's an organization called - Autism Speaks!
My youngest daughter, Rachel, has Pervasive Developmental Disorder. PDD is a mild form of Autism. She also has some developmental delays. This layout is dedicated to her "JOURNEY".
I placed this Red Rose on the layout to symbolize Rachel's beauty and strength. Some days are a struggle, but through it all she has God, her family, and the best docs and therapists in the world working with her.
I also added this great quote from Eleanor Roosevelt:
“We gain strength, and courage, and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face... we must do that which we think we cannot.”
This quote fits Rachel so well. She has a "Can Do" Attitude and knows that her strength comes from above! :)
And look at this Maya Road kraft envelope. I placed a picture of Rachel selling Girl Scout cookies on the top of it. She loves selling those cookies. :)
I am dedicating more posts on my blog this year to be a "Helper" and "Supporter" to people who have children with disabilities. If you have a child with a disability please remember - You Are Not Alone!
If you have a child on the Autism spectrum please check out Autism Speaks, the HollyRod Foundation, and Generation Rescue.
Layout Supplies:
Patterned Paper (My Mind's Eye - Lost & Found - Union Square); Patterned Paper (Echo Park - Life is Good); Kraft Envelope (Maya Road); Red Flower (Hobby Lobby); Brown Trim (My Mind's Eye - Fine and Dandy - True Blue Trims); Flower Button Paper Clips (KI Memories, Inc.); Red Buttons (Basic Grey); Quote Font (Andalus)

Beautiful LO and fab details! Very meaningful words--I have a word...just haven't done anything with it--you inspired me:) THANKS!
Great layout Angi! I love the One Little Word project! I'm sure your phrase will bring great things into your life and those of others. I used to work with children with Autism and even worked with the UW research briefly. It is definitely a disorder that needs greater awareness and support for both kids and families! Wishing you all the best as you commit to your one little word this year!
Angi, this is a wonderful post and tribute to your girl. I love your layout! And that great quote! You have such a beautiful outlook on life and that is a trait I admire greatly! Thanks for sharing! :)
awesome choice and awesome layout! And as a mom of a kid with developmental delays (but not autism) I can sooo relate! And I keep scrapping his baby steps cause only then can you appreciate the struggle (both ours and theirs)...2 of my other favorite quotes are from Eleanor Roosevelt; she's got some pretty profound words huh??
This is a beautiful tribute! Loving that quote and I love the way you flipped the sketch!
Thanks so much for playing along with Sketchy Thursdays!
Hi Angi,
What a touching blog post. Rachel is so lucky to have a family and support like you. I can see where she gets her positive attitude
from : )

Oh, Angi! Thanks for sharing this! What a beautiful and meaningful layout!
Aww Angi what a wonderful tribute to your courageous daughter. Having taught first grade for 22 years I know about the courage it takes the children and their parents with PDD. Your layout and post warmed my heart as you reach so many others which is what life is all about.
Thanks for sharing so much of you with so many.
Big Hug,
Linda
So gorgeous!!! Thanks for playing with us at Fave Things!!
Angi - this layout is by far one of the most precious that I have ever seen. Everything about it shouts love, strength, and beauty. Rachel is a lovely, lovely girl and you are God's gifts to each other. Each detail is incredible - from the photos to the kraft envelope to the rose to the quote and title - as well as each lovingly placed embellishment.
Thank you for the courage it took to share your words and Rachel's journey. Your post spoke to me and the words contained within were just what I needed to hear. Blessings to you, my friend. xox
Beautiful layout of your daughter! She's beautiful and is very lucky to have you as her mom!
Wonderful layout! Awesome word (sometimes a word is to important to stand by itself and it needs a friend or two!) Outstanding cause! Gorgeous girl :D
Angi, your layout is amazing! What can I say, you are beautiful inside and out and your daughter is too. Thank you for sharing with all of us! Have a blessed day!
Hugs, Carol L.
