For Your Sweet Tooth

Sunday, February 28, 2010

As promised I am unveiling my newest recipe box design. I call this one the "I Love Baking" Recipe Box This one is dedicated to all those who have a Sweet Tooth!

I made this one using designer paper with "sprinkles" on the front. There is also a cute cupcake, a rolling pin, and an "I Heart Baking" sign on the front.

The top is decorated with more cupcake embellishments. The handle is adorned with pink polka dot ribbon, along with soft white ribbon. The back has a variety of cute cupcakes with the words "cookies, muffins, and cupcakes" scrolled along the bottom.

This is sure to bring a smile to those that want to keep all of their baking recipes organized. It also will add fun to any kitchen. I also include recipe cards with this as well. To see more info about this recipe box be sure to check it out in my online store - http://cokiepopaper.etsy.com

I also wanted to announce the winner of this week's giveaway. There are 2 winners this week. First - Congrats to Valerie at Cabin + Cub. She won the Birds and Friends scrapbook layout. My favorite baking recipe is a great crowd pleaser: Smores Cheesecake. Kraft has a great recipe for it and it's great for bonfires or BBQ's.

Here's a favorite brownie recipe. It comes the Food Network. My family loves it!

Ingredients
Soft butter, for greasing the pan
Flour, for dusting the buttered pan
4 large eggs
1 cup sugar, sifted
1 cup brown sugar, sifted
8 ounces melted butter
11/4 cups cocoa, sifted
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup flour, sifted
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
Directions
Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F. Butter and flour an 8-inch square pan.

In a mixer fitted with a whisk attachment, beat the eggs at medium speed until fluffy and light yellow. Add both sugars. Add remaining ingredients, and mix to combine.

Pour the batter into a greased and floured 8-inch square pan and bake for 45 minutes. Check for doneness with the tried-and-true toothpick method: a toothpick inserted into the center of the pan should come out clean. When it's done, remove to a rack to cool. Resist the temptation to cut into it until it's mostly cool.

My favorite backing recipe is for the gingerbread cookies my Mom and I made every winter back when I was a girl, from her 1960's edition of the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook (a classic!). I still do them today, with my own spicy variations (ramped up the ginger, cinnamon, and cloves, and added chopped crystallized ginger).

How cute are your boxes! I'd have to bake more often just so I could use your sweet recipe box. :D

My favorite baking recipe is for pumpkin bread. I bake with pumpkin only in fall and winter otherwise I'd get burned out on it, I love pumpkin and I don't want that to happen! And it's something to look forward to when I am so sick of the summer heat and aching for autumn!

My favorite recipe is for simple butter cookies. Beat a cup of butter, a cup and a half of flour, and 1/2 cup powdered sugar for 10 minutes until it's nice and fluffy. Spoon or pipe onto cookie sheets and bake at 350 for 15 minutes, and you're done!
