Pretty Up A Box

Friday, January 27, 2012

Check out my Flower Box that I made for Lessology Challenge #10 - Floral Delight. I must admit that I can't make pretty flowers like my fellow dt member Julie (love her flowers) ... so ... I decided to "pretty up" my flowers for this project. {I need a flower lesson Julie...just sayin'...LOL}

I used coffee filters to make a scallop shape to peek out from behind the flowers. I also rolled small pieces of coffee filter to place next to each flower. I think it dresses it up quite a bit.

I love to "dress up" small kraft boxes so I must make more of these. I hope to see you all play along with us! The fabulous Vintage Street Market is our sponsor. Be sure to {click here} to visit the LESSology blog for all of the details.

Supplies:
Patterned Paper (My Mind's Eye - Blush "Sweet" Eiffel); Flowers (Prima); Ribbon (Celebrate It); Misc. Supplies (kraft box, coffee filters)

These colors are so perfect for Spring!

Kokeshi Girls

Monday, January 23, 2012

Isn't this little girl just the cutest?

I used to wear my hair like this when I was a little girl. This brings back such fond memories. She is just so stinkin' cute!!!

This is a part of the

The reason why I love this collection so much is that Samantha has designed this line of paper, die-cut shapes, and stickers to look like little girls from all nationalities. I wish more companies would put out more stuff like this. I know a lot of crafty people that would love to buy it.

I used this line to make Candy Favor Jars. I also added canvas & a toothpick embellies to each of them. I think they would be a hit at a little girl's birthday party. They would also be great for scrapbook pages and card making.

You can see the full collection and order at the Creative Imaginations site {Here}. Please let me know if you make something with this line. I'd love to hop over to your blog to check it out!

See ya back here tomorrow for a new project reveal!

Polka Dot Pockets

Saturday, January 21, 2012

I love the CR84FN & Paper Issues challenges, but have not had the time to play in a while. Well...it's Saturday...so I'm playin' along today!

Fab color choices this week too. I made some Polka Dot Pockets using my fave element...canvas. It's such a natural color and adds a bit of fun texture to any design.

So what do you all have planned this weekend? I have two non-crafty friends that want me to show them how to make a scrapbook. I think I'll take them to Archivers first to load up on goodies. They will be addicted before I'm done with them...LOL

Have a Happy Weekend!

Coffee Filters & A Punch

Wednesday, January 18, 2012

Most of you all know that I design for LESSology and we love to recycle & upcyle using different items that we have at home. When I saw Moxie Fab's Cool Tools Week - "The Around The House"  Challenge, I just knew I had to enter!

I used coffee filters and...

 a Stampin Up! scallop punch to create the flower on my card.

I love flowers and this was a fun & inexpensive way
to add one to the design.

I had so much fun with this challenge!
Now I've gotta go look for more stuff around the house to play with!

Supplies:
Cardstock & 1-3/4" Scallop Punch: (Stampin Up!); Patterned Paper (October Afternoon - Red Rover, Jump Rope, and Marbles); Corrugated Shape (Jillibean Soup); Button (Crate Paper); Baker's Twine (The Twinery); Misc. Supplies: (Coffee Filters)

Monday Inspiration

Monday, January 16, 2012

Happy MLK day!

I hope that Dr. King's message continues to bring hope and inspiration to everyone!!!

Whew...last week was very busy on my blog. I had so many exciting announcements and projects going on that I decided to wait and reveal my new Lessology project to you today.

I made this for a friend & kept the design clean and simple. The white panel is from a storage cube from Michael's craft store. The cube is falling apart and I didn't want to throw the pieces away, so I decided to upcycle it.

The chocolate colored vinyl bird is from Stampin' Up and the bottom border is from Creative Memories. I put some small clothespins in the upper left hand corner so that she can hang a photo or her "to do" list on that side of the board.

Hope you liked my little creation. I can't wait to see what you all make for this challenge. You  have until Sunday, January 22nd to link up. Be sure to visit LESSology (here) for all of the prize details.

Welcome to the Samantha Walker Blog Hop!

I am sooo happy to reveal not just one...but two brand new projects for you today. If this is your first stop, you will want to click {HERE} to the spot where the hop begins. You will not want to miss all of the fantastic projects that will be revealed along the way.

My first project was so fun to make. Since I'm a teacher, I have loads of notecards lying around. My students use them to make flashcards. I decided to turn them some of them into a Notecard Mini album! I punched a hole in each card, added a metal ring, and Samantha Walker's A to Z Collection. You can find this adorable paper in the Creative Imaginations store.

For my second project I started out with an empty sweet tea bottle. After using spray adhesive, I added Samantha Walker fabric and a die-cut shape from the Heidi Collection

Your next stop on the hop is the wonderful Jennifer Evans' blog. Be sure to comment all along the hop for your chance to win a fabulous prize!!!

Saturday, January 7, 2012

I'm having a ball this weekend just creating...

Creating just because...

I made this mini note card set using this adorable gnomie and mushroom from Martha Stewart Crafts. I also used a bit of baker's twine from The Twinery and some fun SRM stickers. I used my Stampin' Up circle punch to add some corrugated cardboard circle shapes to the design. This set was so fun to make!!!

I'm linking up over at Wee Memories!

What are you creating this weekend?

My Vision Tray for 2012

Wednesday, January 4, 2012

I've been seeing Vision Boards pop up everywhere. Oprah even talked about it on her Life Skills class. Instead of doing the traditional New Year's Resolutions this year, I though I'd make myself a Vision Tray instead.

This majority of this tray is filled with yummy goodies from the American Crafts - Amy Tangerine line.

Here's a breakdown of what each compartment
of the tray means to me...

This tray represents ME!
{she even has a tan just like mine...LOL}

This tray represents my goal to improve my sewing skills.
{My friend Patti is going to help me with this one}

This tray represents my "Get Moving" goal.
{This means more walking and biking to stay healthy}

This tray is a reminder to "Take One Day at a Time!"
I always have a "to-do list" swirling around in my head.

{I actually dropped this yellow key and put a crack in it. I think it adds a little vintage feel to the design}

This tray will remind me to take more pictures & make more layouts this year! {I make way too many cards and altered projects and really want to branch out a little}

That's it for my 2012 Vision Tray. I have bookmarked this post so that I can come back throughout the year to check on my progress.

Wish me luck!!! :)
