Clean and Simple

Sunday, September 26, 2010

I'm an "Embellishment Queen" but wanted to try something different this week. Here's a card made with a "Clean & Simple" style. I didn't add any embellies for this one. I let the paper be the main focus.

I used Glue Dots - Minis on the sentiment and Glue Dots - Pop Ups to push up the little birdie on the card.

I don't know if I like it with the twine or without the twine. Here's a shot without the twine. Hmmmmm what do ya think?

I entered this in some fun challenges this week:
Wee Memories - Clean & Simple
Allsorts - Plain & Simple
My Partner in Crafting Crime Clean & Simple
Card Recipe
Cardstock & Embossed Cardstock - Bazzill - Ruby Vine; Patterned Paper - 7 Gypsies - Avignon; Other Patterned Paper, Birdie, and Happy sentiment - Adorn It - Misty Collection; Adhesive - Glue Dots mini and pop ups; Twine - Stampin Up.

Have a Scrappy Week!

Recipe Fun at The Paper Variety!...and A Winner

Wednesday, September 22, 2010

It's time for another fun challenge at The Paper Variety! This time we are cooking up a great A-B-C Recipe for you to follow.
A = is for Autumn colors (brown, red, yellow, orange)
B= is for Borders (punched, die cut, stitched, stickers, etc.)
C= is for Cinema - (use a movie in your title or journaling)

I've got the "A" part covered as I incorporated orange, brown, and yellow into my card. I love the orange flower by Martha Stewart. It has a glittery center that makes is sparkle.

For the "B" part I added scallop border along the bottom by her feet. I just love this little chipboard girl by Me & My Big Ideas - Soft Spoken line. She fits in so well with the theme of the card.

For the "C" part I used the movie "My Girl" as my inspiration. It's a movie from the 90's that starred Dan Akroyd, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Macaulay Culkin. Such a cute movie that my daughters still love to watch.

Now it's your turn. Visit The Paper Variety and join in on the fun challenge. We have a great prize up for grabs this week. The winner will get this FAB kit from The Treasure Box Club. Awesome prize!
And don't forget to "FOLLOW" The Paper Variety blog and "Comment" below and tell me that you linked up an entry for this contest. I still have 2 awesome prize packs available from Purple Pumpkin to give away.

Drawing will be held on September 27th. Enter your project for The Paper Variety by clicking HERE.

Also, the winner of the FCCB blog hop is.....Jamie....Congrats.

Pure Bliss!

Monday, September 20, 2010

Fall is on it's way and orange seems to be the Kewl color these days! I'm catching up on my card making this week so I decided to make one with this festive color.

Wee Memories is having a fun challenge this week using orange, scallops, and string. You can opt to do 2 of these or all three. I used scallop border along with bright orange on this one.

I also added orange butterflies to this after being inspired by this beautiful Cascading Orange Monarch Butterfly Feather Headband by Pegasus Maiden on Etsy. I also entered this into the fun Etsy Inspired challenge this week.

Here's a closer look at the butterflies that I used.

Card Recipe:
Patterned Paper - So Sophie and American Crafts - City Park, Cardstock - Bazzill; Bingo Card - So Sophie; Flowers - Martha Stewart and Sassafras, Bird Sticker embellishment - My Mind's Eye, Scallop border - from Sassafras paper, butterflies - from stash.

Welcome to Angi's blog at Cokie Pop Paper and the second "Fantabulous Cricut Crawl"...Fantabulous Cricut's version of a blog hop!

If you've come from visiting Brenda's blog at Brenda's Scrappy Blog you're in the right place! If you've just happened across my blog and would like to play along with our Fantabulous Cricut Crawl, start HERE

In honor of Back To School time, we're calling our second Fantabulous Cricut Crawl "Button Up For School".
Each Design Team member will be featuing an original project featuring a button AND a Cricut cut somewhere on the project. Make sure to check out each DT member's blog for some awesome inspiration! There will be prizes along the way at our DT members' blogs, AND there will be a grand prize up for grabs at FCCB for one participant that submits a project meeting the "Button Up For School" challenge criteria! How fun is that?

Here's my project. Every year I make new desk decor for my desk at school. As a Language Arts teacher I use colored pencils all of the time for a really innovative essay writing assignment that I use in class. Here's my new colored pencil holder that I made using the Create a Critter Cricut cartridge. I also added a button to go along with this week's challenge.
Here's a shot of the back of the pencil jar. I added more embellies to go along with the "color" theme.
I'm offering a prize to go along with the blog hop. Just comment below and tell me about your favorite school memory. The winner will receive this Xtra Large Martha Stewart Punch Set. It's perfect for Halloween projects. You will be entered Twice if you link a project up to the FCCB blog. Please tell me that you did in a seperate comment. You will be entered 3 times if you choose to follow my blog. The winner will be randomly picked next Wednesday. Good Luck!

Now it's your turn! See if you can incorporate a button on your own "Button Up For School" project. Make sure to include a Cricut cut somewhere on your project!

I'm the last stop on the hop. When you're done hopping, make sure to link up your project to FCCB's Fantabulous Cricut Crawl post to be entered into the contest!

Happy Crawling!

Big News From Glue Dots!

Friday, September 10, 2010

This is my 2nd post of the day. I couldn't hold in my excitement. Just received word that I have been selected to be on the Glue Dots Design Team! I am officially a Glue Dots Dottess. This is my very first time designing for a MANUFACTURER. What a great way start my weekend.

I know most of you probably have a box of Glue Dots somewhere in your supplies right now. I use them on a lot of my designs....especially my altered projects. Can't wait to show you my new stuff once we reveal our new projects on the blog in October.

To see the official announcement and follow the Glue Dots blog please click HERE.

Now I think I'm gonna break out my box of Glue Dots and make something scrappy....LOL

Glam Rock!

I was having scrappy withdrawals last night and decided to work on a layout to add to Rachel's drill team scrapbook. Here's what I came up with. I used this week's sketch from Sketches in Thyme for this one.

I love this dance pose. Their team danced to the theme song from "The  Matrix" movie. The center picture is from another dance routine to an Avril Lavigne song. I added this dance quote to the page along with metal flower embellies. I also added a  "Dance Quote" to this page from W.H. Auden. It reads - "Dance till the stars come down from the rafters. Dance, dance, dance till you drop." So perfect for this page and the challenge going on over at Frosted Designs.

I used my favorite colors and embellishments on this page --- You know I had to add LARGE flower petals and button embellies. I wanted to make this a rock/glam kind of page so I also added some soft black ribbon as well. This one fit in well over at the fun challenge going on over at The Pink Elephant too.

Here's another shot of the page from a different angle. I used paper from Heidi Grace, buttons from TPC Studios and The Paper Studio, glitter letters from TPC, Prima flowers, and metal flowers from Making Memories.

Have a Scrappy Weekend and don't forget to join me on Sunday for a week full of new crafty projects and giveaways!

Fabulous Cokie!

Thursday, September 2, 2010

I made a card this week for my sister Nicole's birthday. And while I'm on the subject of Nicole, I wanted to answer a question that people often ask me. People often wonder how I came up with the name Cokie Pop for my business and blog.

Well the name comes from Nicole. When I was a little girl I could never pronounce her name. So I simply called her "Cokie". The nickname stuck and most of the family started calling her that.

I wanted a unique and cutesy name for my blog so I took her nickname and added the word "Pop"......then ended up with "Cokie Pop". The name seems cute and catchy to me so I'm using it (with her permission of course)! :)

This card is Nicole all the way. She's a Diva and she's Fabulous! I thought this card fit her personality so well. I used the Unity stamp called "Classic Beauty" for the image. I've been wanting to try their stamps ever since I ran across the All Things Unity Blog. . I've entered this in their challenge this week. I love colorful, cutesy, and whimsical designs. I would describe "My Style" this way. The Shabby Tea Room is also doing a fun "Old Meets New" challenge. I love using old and new products together so this card fit right in. The die-cut shape and the stamp that I used are new. The flowers, paper, and other embellies are old stuff from my stash. I've also entered this card is several other wonderful challenges going on this week. (See below)

I also used large blooms and kept the color scheme of black, pink, and white. I picked up the cutout that I stamped the image on from my LSS. The "fabulous" sticker and button embellie are from TPC Studio's Girlfriends collection.

Challenges:
All Things Unity - What's Your Style
A Crafty Little Place - Anything Goes
The Shabby Tea Room - Old Meets New
Scrapbook Sisters - Pink & Black

Have a Crafty Week!
